If you miss an opponent and he uses Risposte, can you use an Active Defense against this attack (that occurs in your turn)?
Risposte and Active Defenses
Does riposte have the melee attack icon in the top left hand corner, or is it classed as a melee attack in its description?

Yes, it's a Melee Reaction
The active defenses are Support Reactions, and I had the impression that you couldn't use Reactions during your turn...
What's the downside of allowing defensive actions to be used against it? That would mean that when the character is subject to a regular attack they wouldn't be able to defend as well against it. The riposte may fail, but then effectively it's working like a faint so the attacker can use a better attack on an opponent that will be less likely to defend against it. Regardless of what's official I'd certainly allow it, makes for a very cool visual, attack, counter, defend, attack - sweet!
The reaction trait is just like any other trait, it by itself is NOT to be classed as a restriction.
I think the only thing a reaction "sort" of signifies is that it does not take up the persons alloted action for the round because it does not normally occur during their phase of the round.
So I reckon you can use active defences against riposte and they STILL don't take up the alloted action for that persons turn even though they are now occurring during his phase of the round...(if you use it against a risposte which has happened against your orginial attack)
It's just easier that way and as Kryyst says, will it really break anything if you allow it?
In fact if both were trained swordsmen and both had riposte, you could get some cool too-ing and frow-ing mechanics, as they both tried to out-riposte each other, if that was your thing!!
If it wasn't and you prefer a simpler mechanic, just don't allow it, you won't break anything either way, really..
