Hey,
I just have a quick question. the Flute reads that you defeat all the monsters. Does this mean that you take them as trophies? We had been playing that you don't, but were curious.
Thanks.

"Defeat" always means "pass a combat check against." That means you would take them all as trophies, except for those that can't be taken as trophies for whatever reason (Endless, Warlock, Spawn, etc).
As an aside, has anyone ever managed to pull off the legendary Flute of the Outer Gods/Milk of Shub-Niggurath combo? That would be awesome. Granted, it requires two investigators.

I have. it was Trish who did it... 11 trophies... Oh but 6 of them were hex monsters and the Herald was the black goat.
So things went down hill for her REAL fast. It was the closest i've ever come to getting through all the corruption cards, i think there were 6 red left when we finally won by seals?
It was crazy fun though!
Silliness. If you're daring and lucky, it might only require one investigator!
Lord N: Excellent.
Tibs: Maybe, if you do it on the Downtown streets and no monsters move while you're getting your Insanity
Yea, It took me two investigators, I don't remember who chugged the bad milk... but it had to be done.

After you've been driven to 0 sanity byt the milk, can you use a whiskey card to avoid becoming insane? (I'd say no, but anyway, it's better to ask... well. probably a cocktail of whiskey and shub-niggurath milk should drive you to the hospital instead ::laughing:![]()
Continuing the OP's original idea, I assume this means when the Lightning Gun is used to 'defeat' all the creatures in the sky, they are taken as trophies, no?
Julia: no, you can't prevent a "go to 0" effect, no matter who you are or what you have. However, I meant that if the monsters are all still there next turn, you could run in from the Asylum and use the Flute.

Yep, I had understood your point :-) I was just speculating about a way for doing it quicker. Thanks for the clarification about whiskey!

For added panache, you could use the Milk while *in* the Asylum.

Yep. Flute isn't really necessary to make it work though— a blessed investigator with a good fight ally and items can take out a monster pile too.
Hang on, I just realized that if you use the combo while in the Asylum, you don't need to have two investigators. In the first turn, you go to the Asylum and drink the Milk. All the monsters move to the Asylum (up to the monster limit) and you go insane. During the encounters phase, you draw an Insanity card and restore your Sanity to its full amount. During the Mythos phase, none of the monsters leave the Asylum because you're there. During the next movement phase, use the Flute to kill the monsters. As a bonus, during the next encounters phase, you can use the Asylum to recover the three Sanity that you lost using the Flute. Pretty slick.
Unless something goes wrong, in which case there's a horde of monsters sitting at the Asylum.
Nice catch. Nothing looks wrong, though you said that you draw the Madness card during the Arkham Encounters phase, when in fact you would draw it immediately (your AE phase would be skipped).
Good point, though as you say it doesn't change anything.
