I'm choosing not to think about that. I don't want to carry AH around in more than the 2 big boxes I'm used to. It might have to happen though. le sigh.

I already need a new monster cup. I've been using a velvet dice bag, which worked fine until I got all the expansions >_>

Hah... I use a Barnes and Nobles bag... Hey, at least it's green, right? ;')

I've thought about storage, but with my setup, don't see much adjusting necessary to get everything settled in. For my analness, the biggest issue is sleeving, more to the point of having sleeves of different size (either by height or width), Mythos and OW decks being the most worrisome. Arkham location decks are easier to resleeve entirely, but the big two will require measuring and searching to get the right sized sleeves.

The biggest issue for me was the tackle box I use for tokens is running out of space and they are adding more gates than I allotted future space for. As for monster cups, I have the coolest monster cup ever.

I'm going to have to clamp my hands over my mouth for that ;')

And my childhood comes rushing back.

Best monster cup ever XD

I treat cards and object of the game like every other game does. If a game component breaks or contradicts a rule then the card or game component in question take precedence. That is the universal rule in gaming now days from DnD to Card Games. Universal rules rarely take precedence.

As for the gates on vortex....I think you guys are taking things too literal. I agree the wording was confusing like supposedly the dark druids, but I can tell a gate is not a monster and should never move onto another space with a gate or vortex. Seems kind of obvious. They only had a page to fit the entire expansions rules on just like they do for most expansions. Maybe they couldn't fit all the excess rules on vortex and locations with other gates, or specific Ancient One effects.

Rule lawyers aways take things too seriously lol. Geesh.

That being said, I still request this get FAQed.

*sigh* the date on my preorder got bumped to the end of the month, I guess this isn't lurking as close at it appeared to be before. serio.gif

I visited two gaming retail stores this weekend, and neither of them had an expected "receiving" date.

It comes when it comes, I guess. bostezo.gif

I ordered mine yesterday and it was dispatched today. Maybe the UK distributor misread the release dates?

Possibly, Today was the ship date quoted to me when I made my order. But it is through a third party and dates getting jockeyed around like this aren't unusual with third party preorders.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Forget the rules, Game Parlor in VA has it in stock ~ I received a phone message, informing me that they have a copy waiting in the back room for me. I'll pick it up after dinner.

Professor you are so lucky. I have to wait till next week according to my local game store sorpresa.gif

It's status on the upcoming page is currently "in stores now"

This maybe true but you still can't order from FFGsorpresa.gif

No release date fixed here in Italy... sigh... I'm afraid I'll have to wait until September...

Mine arrived in the post this morning. I haven't had chance to play it yet, but some of the cards look good.

A quick glance through the Reckoning deck shows that the "exploits" from earlier are both dangerous and possibly necessary with the herald.

I'll refrain from giving any details for a while, though. :)

Good news Everyone. We can order it from FFG NOWgran_risa.gif

Detroit, MI area still doesn't have it yet, most likely tomorrow. You can order it from Boardsandbits.com and it will ship tomorrow. $16.71 plus shipping ($7.00 is the cheapest, 1 day shipping if you live in a state near Ohio).

I just want to check out the relationship and reckoning cards! I was also wondering, just out of pure curiosity, since the Dunwich and Kingsport OWs had a different symbol for each gate to the same place, which symbols they paired together for the double-gates. Such minutia interests me, and I'm sure the Wiki won't be updated for a while.

::Laughter:: and I thought I'd go mad[der] with waiting.

Read through the rules, my interpretations; take 'em or leave 'em...

1. Norman: pick one dimensional symbol. Unfortunately, this means Norman gets no real advantage from closing a split gate, and should probably avoid them.

2. Akachi: I say give it to her. Maybe this isn't based solidly on the RAW, but the ability is *so* weak, and otherwise basically applies to one mythos card and possibly De Vermis Mysteris. Just let her have her fun in the sun.

3. Moving gates: Ugh. What a headache. Previous poster suggested that the intention was moves like "a black bordered elusive monster" unfortunately, the elusive trait is far from what you would consider "normal" which is what the text actually states. But here's a much better reason why gates should not be Elusive.

Gates don't have an awareness modifier, which, following the logic of an elusive gate, would make them impossible to enter. Lets make it worse..

Suppose a moving gate has made it to the street, a monster is in the same location (perhaps having just come out of the gate during a surge). If an Investigator stops to fight the monster, (and kills it) are they then drawn through the gate during the Arkham Encounters step? If gates you follow the logic that gates can move away from investigators, the conclusion is no, he isn't (read, it's impossible for anyone to enter the gate). If you follow the logic that says yes, they are drawn through the gate, then it also follows that gates do not move away from investigators (with explored tokens or not).

I suppose you could read it as gates move as if they were a monster (along the black and white arrows) but they aren't actually one, and so are not subject to things like sticking around for investigators. That seems a little sketchy to me, and if it's what the designers meant than they really should have just said the gate "moves along the white or black arrows" instead. Even this interpretation still leaves the question of gates entering vortexes wide open though.

More questions:

If Akachi draws an "endless" gate as her starting equipment, does she get to keep it?

Does John LeGrasse allow you to claim an "endless" gate as a trophy?

Re: Moving gates.

According to RAW, you can't enter a gate if it's in a street location. Base set rulebook, pg. 8: "During the Arkham Encounters Phase, each player
whose investigator is in a location (not a street area or Other World area) must take one of the following actions." Ergo, if the gate is in the street, you don't get an encounter; if you don't get an encounter, you can't enter the gate.

In addition, moving gates will almost never enter a location (since they move like monsters and you'd need to apply some special/rare abilities to force them to do so).

Theoretically you could either (a) position yourself to get sucked in when the gate moves again or (b) go through another gate to the same Other World, but even that's not going to help you because you also can't close the gate while it's in the street.

This can't have been intentional.

I think it's pretty obvious how the moving gates are supposed to work. Unfortunately, how they're supposed to work seems to have no relation to how the rule was actually written.
