Quick Question

By Astinex, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I've only played a few games of Descent. But yesterday I played with a new OL. He did something I hadn't seen done before. As our heroes entered Area 1, the OL had monsters open doors to Area 2 and Area 3. (Map was designed with Areas 2 & 3 both connecting to Area 1). The doors were NOT rune doors.

The main issue, was that as heroes we couldn't get Line of Sight to so much area and the OL was able to regularly spawn new monsters. I didn't see anything in the rules to stop the OL from doing this, but I just wanted to confirm. So is the OL correct in his tactic?

He used monsters from Area 1 to open the doors to Areas 2 and 3 which were unrevealed still? Then he cheated. Its right in the JitD rules, page 13 about opening doors

" Important: Monsters cannot open any door leading to an unrevealed area."

Have that player go read the rules again.

Thanks, I missed that. But was checking the rules while playing so was glancing them over.

It fairly easy to miss actually, since its written on the top of the page, whereas the rest of the rules about doors are at the bottom of the page and in a different column of text.
