Transfering between planets?

By tellerium, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Hi,

Quick question, can a carrier transfer between two planets in the same sector if the carrier doesn't move?

I've looked through the rules but the only references I could find said that the ship can pick up ground units at any point during movement. If there is no movement can the carrier still pick up ground units? Do I really need to move a carrier into a system to do a transfer?

May be a dumb question, but we're genuinely confused.
Thanks.

Yes it can.

Activate the system. Either leave a carrier there or move a carrier in. Then pick up the GFs and put them down on the other planet. Job done. happy.gif

I concur. A CV picks up GFs in the movement phase of a tactical action (even if it doesn't actually move itself) and it drops them off in the "planetary invasion" phase. If there's already a CV in system with the two planets you can just activate it and then pick up and drop off the GFs without physically moving the CV.
