Totally unrelated rules questions: corruption and data-vaults

By The Laughing God, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

1) which skill would you use if you look up information in an archive, data vault or cogitator memory cell? Search? Tech-Use?

2) can you only get Corruption points when exposed to warp stuff or also for example by repeated torture of suspects, all in the name of the Inquisition and mankind but a bit gleefully nevertheless?

Accessing cogitator systems would commonly use Tech-Use, but I can easily see an appropriate Scholastic Lore skill being used to determine an individual's ability to research a subject.

Anything that makes it easier for Chaos to infest the soul - exposure to the warp and its inhabitants is the most obvious, but essentially anything that could conceivably make someone more vulnerable to further taint could be a source of Corruption Points.

Anything that Man Should Not Know should cause either Insanity or Corruption. The former is the shattering of the mind, the latter is dark clarity, the conclusions that come only to the damned.

1) which skill would you use if you look up information in an archive, data vault or cogitator memory cell? Search? Tech-Use?

Search doesn't fit, IMO - search is about physically looking for something.
In addition to the skills N0-1 named, I'd add Logic in order to craft accurate and efficient queries.

IMO, corruption should be reserved for direct or indirect contact with warp stuff. Reading a book of chaotic lore might give a few points because the mere writing of the lore already imbues it with a connection to its subject. In the same way, I'd consider the symbols and proper names (Khorne instead of "The Blood God") of the ruinous powers mildly corrupting.

However, this connection to the warp needs to exist. It's not enough to do things that would theoretically please a chaos entity - otherwise, the entire Imperium would already be corrupted, the Adeptus Terra by Tzeentch, the nobility by Slaanesh and the Guard by Khorne. Acts that correspond with the attributes of a chaos entity can corrupt, but only if there's something nearby that takes an actual interest in them. So gleefully torturing people is fine, gleefully torturing people in a room that was used to summon a daemon three hours ago is not.

I'd say Tech Use, with options on Trade (technomat), Scholastic Lore (bureacracy), Common Lore (administratum) and similar skills.

I'd agree that Corruption should only be gained by actions directly or indirectly related to the Warp. However, IMO, gleefully torturing suspects is a great way to get Insanity on the path for the Mental Disorder: Delusion (rightousness). Of course, IMO, most of the "hands on" leaders of the Imperium are insane and have this and other delusions.
