Descent questions, JitD and RTL =)

By JFresh, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi,

Ok, so more questions =). For the crushing block OL card, it mentions that it cannot be placed next to obstacles. Is a door considered an obstacle in this case? eg can a crushing block trap be triggered adjacent to a door?

Also, how exactly does reenforcement work in a dungeon? It says to place figures off the board and next to the exit, but where would this be on the first and second dungeon levels? I read the manual on this to be sure, but the concept is still a bit confusing :P .

Thanks for the help!

1. No, doors are not obstacles. Yes, you can play a CB adjacent to a door.
Obstacles are defined in each expansion up to RtL. See reply 9 in this recent thread . From RtL onwards you need to reference the FAQ, specifically pages 8 and 18.
And for this particular question, FAQ pg15
Q: Which map items count as obstacles for the Crushing Block trap card?
A: Crushing Block may never be played in a space adjacent to a pit or any token (or built-in map element) that blocks movement. The reason for this is to prevent the Overlord from sealing a hallway completely and preventing the heroes from ever progressing. This is a list of all relevant obstacles, current through the Road to Legend: Boulder, Crushing Wall, Rubble, Water. (Villagers are figures, not map elements.)

2. Reinforcement in a dungeon has nothing to do with figures. Reinforcement in a dungeon merely allows the OL to place the appropriate Power Card (or 15 threat from Merrick) in play at the beginning of the dungeon. There are no extra figures available from reinforcing unless the Power card is Hordes of the Things and then they are placed according to the card's rules.
Reinforcements in outdoor encounters allow the OL to bring new figures on as specified next to the exits, which are marked on the location card.
Also, see the GLOAQ about spawning during outdoor encounters (Lt encounters usin treachery spawns).

Once again you display your infinite wisdom =).

So moving on to the Final Jepeordy round, I have one last question (for now ;) ): Simplified Treachery: OL spends 10 xp for 1 Treachery point. When he spends that point, does he lose it forever or does he get that to spend at the beginning of every dungeon? I suppose this should be obvious given the rules but it just seems like a lot to spend an OL upgrade on if you can only use it once so I just wanted to confirm.

Thanks again for the assistance!

Ok, another question as well =). I searched the forums and didn't find anything regarding this issue.

Regarding RtL and Outdoor encounters, in the section of the rules for Party Recovery, number 4 it reads: "All heroes may drink any number of potions and use any healing items they wish."

Does this mean that all potions that the heroes currently posess may be used on any hero? Or are the heroes limited to what potions they have in their respective pack? For example, One Fist has 2 health potions and Mad Carthos has none. One Fist was killed in the Outdoor encounter and so has full health and fatigue. Mad Carthos on the other hand is down to 3 health. Can Mad Carthos use One Fist's healing potions to heal himself after emerging victorious from an outdoor encounter?

Thanks for the assistance!

1. Every Dungeon.

Treachery in Advanced Campaigns is never 'lost'. It is respent at the start of every dungeon.
It is like a vanilla dungeon with the three coloured treachery diamonds showing how much treachery you get - for the campaign. At the start of the campaign all three diamonds are reading zero and you don't have any treachery. As you buy treachery the little diamonds increase in number. By late in the campaign your campaign treachery diamonds might be reading 4/3/2 if you bought all of the treachery you can.

2. Given that the heroes may freely interchange any potions or items they have any time they are on the map, any potions can be used on any hero.
It's real simple if you think about it. It takes just 1 MP (approximately 1/8th turn or less) to give away an item or drink a potion. When the heroes come out of a dungeon they have most of a weeks worth of turns to rearrange their stuff and drink potions!

Thanks a lot!

We actually just found the FAQ and found the answer there about the potions =). I was just going to respond to nvm about that one but thanks for the answer! =) It's also good to know about the treachery =). Our OL looked like he just had an epiphany about it and then pouted stating that he would have been buying it otherwise :D .

Thanks again for all of your help =). And Happy 4th! (Assuming you're in the USA :D ).
