Twilight Gate and Azathoth-Still no official word?

By Mourningstar, in CoC Rules Discussion

I know this interaction has been discussed multiple times on here, but as a new player, in a group of new players, I would really like to know if anyone has had any official rulings or judges rulings on the issue.

I can see the ruling going either way:

Either Twilight Gate does have the ability to check for the Ancient One subtype despite blank text boxes on resources, thus by-passing the rulebook due to a card always being correct.

OR

Twilight Gate cannot check for the keyword due to the fact that the card does not specifically say that it bypasses that rule, simply that it checks for a subtype that will, in fact, never actually be there.

I think this issue was present even before the last FAQ was created which further makes me believe that the interaction does possibly work, seeing as the blank text on resources, including subtypes, is still worded the same and neither of the two cards were present or had a change of wording due to the interaction.

Again, anyone's experiences with official rulings would help, or an explanation if I missed something in the FAQ would be nice as well.

Thanks for any help, I appreciate the posts, posts that this forum desperately needs more of! An active forum usually spurs more interest in games for new players and we all want to see this game continue to grow!

Train of thought-

There are a ton of Ancient Ones out of the Ancient Horrors AP(think that's what it's called) that can never have a blank text box, perhaps Twilight Gate was worded as such to not allow interactions with them, but can still interact with other AO's that do not have this distinction...

Don't think you'll need to consider it this way.

Twilight gate was designed so you'll check if the ressource card is an ancient one card or not, a character card or not ....

So the inner rule of the card bypass the usual conception of the definition of ressources.
