Need some help with Fortune Dice for Characteristics - how do you add them?

By Gunmetal1986, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hi. I can't find in the rules a mention of where the square blocks on the character sheet would ever get a number for fortune dice next to each characteristic. Where do these fortune dice/numbers come from? How would I ever get a fortunr die/dice added to my Strength for example?

Thanks for any help! - I have never played the game but have owned it since December and want to play over the summer.

WFRP Rulebook pg 37. (Second Paragraph)

" Fortune Die: The character can purchase a fortune die for one of the primary characteristics listed on the career card. This is a permanent addition to that characteristic's die pool and should be noted in the white square next to the characteristic. Fortune die are cumulative. If a character already has a fortune die in a characteristic from a previous advance, selecting this advance again provides a second die to the characteristic pool."

Your Career Cards has the number of advances allowed for Fortune Die under the heading "Advances" and "Fortune". Remember, these are for the primary characteristics listed on your Career Card.

Hope that answers your question! happy.gif

So you can't add fortune dice to characteristics as a starting character, only when you advance?

The RAW (Rules as Written) do not allow you to spend character creation points on fortune die... You would have to apply a house rule (personal rules that you create or others create for a home game) to allow that. So you would have to wait to advance to purchase the Fortune Die per the RAW, unless you house rule.

I appreciate the responses and RAW are great. I just could not find the section. Next time I'll try reading them before midnight after a work day :)

Now ill be abit annyoing here and ask, what is the price of a fortune die? 1 Advancement Point? 2?.

Upfront thanks.

Nothing says otherwise, so it would be 1 Advance like training/action cards/talents, etc. Off the top of my head, the only thing that costs more than 1 advance slot is a Characteristic advance purchase.

Some non career advancements also cost more than one (e.g. advanced skills not related to career).
