Which is the Amazon Lie?

When it comes to the Winds of Magic

This:

"In Stock" as of Right Now, Today.

or this:

"We are still trying to obtain your order..." as of earlier this morning.

It looks like you can buy it through their 3rd party vendors right now, but Amazon itself doesn't have it in yet.

It'd be nice if they were clearer with that information. ;)

I have a gift card with them, so I'll be waiting for it to show up there. No real rush, sadly, none of my party run wizards.

Amazon had mine listed as arriving on Monday, right up until yesterday afternoon. I cancelled my order with them.

It's getting pretty ridiculous; they don't have a better price than most other vendors, and they take months to ship FFG products. I'm not sure if this is because of some poorly concieved agreement they have with FFG, or if it's just incompetence on their part, but in either case I've had enough of them.

Whew, good news!

Got an update from Amazon, the status now has an updated delivery date...wait for it...

Sometime between August 4 and November 17.

I actually think its that FFG doesn't print enough in their first print run to cover Amazon AND other distributors. I don't blame Amazon for not getting enough, they could afford them if they were available...I DO blame Amazon for not being clearer/more honest in their information about how long an order will take.

I still blame Amazon. It's the vendor's responsibility to find out how many units they'll recieve; it's also the vendor's responsibility to live up to their end of a purchase agreement. If I order and am told I'll have it on Monday, July 5th, then altering the contract without notice (I had to go to the shipment tracking page to find out about it) is ridiculous.

If I know that FFG will have 50 units for me in the first print run, then I know that the first 50 orders can be told they will have the item on time. Any additional orders should be told they will need to wait for the second printing. I understand Amazon is big, but it's basic business.

At this point, I'm happy paying the extra few dollars for another vendor to get my business, since it's rare that they have anything come up that pushes their dates back a full month.

I blame them both, actually.

FFG has a history in the industry for underprinting product.

Amazon has a history of overselling items they have yet to receive.

Sadly, I'm using an Amazon gift card for the bulk of this purchase and I'm willing to wait however long for Amazon to get it in. If I have a member of the play group suddenly wanting to go wizard or priest, then I'll rethink waiting, but for now I'll wait.

Still a shame both can't get their act together.

Yeah as I just said in another thread, I canceled my pre-order after getting an update that said it could be Nov 6th before it arrived and ordered from Neal at The Warstore. Since Amazon's price didn't reflect their usual discount, I don't even have to feel guilty about not being willing to wait.

Thought folks would be interested to know that I open my email this morning and apparently Amazon finally received some more Winds of Magics and have shipped mine to me.

Of course, I'll be at GenCon when it arrives, so rofl.
