A few spawning questions and a one about Thalia

By Great_Lotus, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

1. If you look at the monster spawning example in the rulebook all the monsters are adjecent, but i cant find anything in the rules stating it have to be that way. So whats my limitations on how i spread my monster out when i spawn them?

2. Would using dark charm count as "Activating a monster", Forceing me to spawn monsters before playing it?

3. Thalias ability allows her to move her speed when making and intrupt attack. Would it be allowed to play trap cards on her during this movment?

Thanks in advance :)

1) There's no requirement that the monsters be adjacent; you can place each of them in any legal spawn location, as far apart as you want. You cannot spawn in a space where the heroes have line-of-sight, in an unrevealed area, or on top of an obstacle (even an obstacle that doesn't block movement, such as a pit).

2) No, Dark Charm is not "activating a monster." In fact, it must be played before activating monsters, since its triggering condition is "at the start of your turn." You cannot move the Charmed hero (except with a Knockback attack), and you cannot play Charge or Rage cards in combination with Dark Charm (their triggering condition is activating a monster), but you can play an Aim card (whose triggering condition is when you declare an attack).

3) Yes, you can play a Trap (Space) card any time that a hero enters an empty square for any reason. Tahlia using a Guard, a hero knocked back by an Ogre, even a hero being involuntarily moved by another trap card (such as Crushing Block) are all valid occasions on which to play a new trap.

However, Tahlia gets her special movement as a result of using her Guard order, even if she decides to move before attacking, so inflicting wounds on her during her movement won't remove the order and prevent her from attacking (unless you kill her).

1. Yes u are allowed to spawn ANYWHERE u want as long as no hero has LoS to the space, and the space is already in a revealed area and it is not on an activated Glyph. You are free to even spawn one monster at one corner of the dungeon and another at the other extreme end. But that has not much strategy for u, so spawn them as close as possible unless u intend to use them to block paths. The best spawning is when u can spawn and hit the heroes within the same turn.

2. No, this card is also played at the start of your turn, which allows u to spawn monsters still or even play power cards or do anything that is 'at the start of ur turn'. You decide the order as long as u do play anything that is not 'at the start of your turn'

3. Yes, traps can be played on her even during her movement in guard interrupt.

Edit: Oops Anti-Stone was faster than me.... And yes, u cannot spawn monsters on obstacles like rubble and water. And isn't spawning monsters in the 'start of ur turn' phase? Which means the OL can choose to do whichever he wants first? (I think anti-stone made a mistake)

There is a difference between spawning monsters and activating monsters.

Oops, so u were referring to 'activating monsters' after doing dark charm. I was confused there because the thread author had asked if dark charm was used first or spawning monsters came first, he had no confusion of activating monsters.
