Can Scurvy Cutthroat discard Venomous Blades after it is brought out of the Shadows? The FAQ doesn't mention cards being brought out of the Shadows as being played (unless I glanced over it) so my guess is that it cannot. Am I correct? Thanks.

Bringing a card out of Shadows is putting a card into play, not playing it. So Scurvy Cutthroat does not apply. (Putting a card into Shadows from your hand is playing a card, though).

Note that even if it did, you wouldn't be able to use the Cutthroat's Response before the Blade's passive killed something.
