Shadow Questions

By complord, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I apologize in advance if these questions have been asked before but the search on these forums is terrible and I couldn't find and answers in the FAQ. On to my questions:

1. What happens to attachments on characters that go into shadows? Duplicates? Power? Gold tokens? Basically, what happens to stuff on the card once said card goes into shadows?

2. If a card goes into shadows knelt does it stay knelt in shadows? If it doesn't does it come back out of shadows standing?

3. When exactly can cards come out of shadows? I'm understanding that it is the first possible player action. So, you would count dominance before things can be brought out of shadows. Same for the standing phase, cards stand before shadow cards can come out. Do you count gold first in marshalling before you can bring stuff out of shadows?

4. Finally, why isn't any of this stuff outlined in the FAQ? The shadow rules that comes with the cards from the City series is very lacking in detail.

Thanks.

The same as when a card goes in dead or discard pile (shadows is an out-of-play area too) - so everything is discarded. But there is not much cards that can go back to shadows from play, unless Tywin sends them.

There is no kneeling or standing state in shadows (it is an out-of-play area). And every card that comes out of shadows comes standing.

No. Cards can come out of shadows at the very beginning of the phase. So beforu you count STR in dominance. Before you can count gold in marshaling (so you dont have the gold for that yet). It is not a player action but a framework action. And also it goes before any other "at the begginning of the phase" effect (like Dario Naharis)

The Shadow mechanic was not invented when CoreSet was released so you can find the rules in any CP from the Kings Landing cycle or on the AGoT support page here: www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp

All of Rozy's answers are correct, but I just want to point out that your questions are answered within the Shadows rules document.

#1 and #2 are answered by:

Cards that are in Shadows are not considered to be “in play,” nor
are they considered to be “in hand.” They are considered to be “in
Shadows.”

together with the standard rules for cards leaving play.

#3 is answered by:

When more than one player want to bring a card out of Shadows at the
beginning of a phase, the players do so one at a time, starting with the
first player and proceeding clockwise. This happens before any other
“beginning of the phase” effects occur.
Each player has one chance to
bring a card out of Shadows each phase. If this opportunity is passed,
it is lost until the beginning of the next phase. Each card that comes out
of Shadows is treated as a separate action, and must be fully resolved
(including all responses) before the next card is brought out of Shadows.
