The King

THE KING

Came up with this idea today. I did the card as a ending because I want to try it out for abit plus making my own special card would take time.

What do you think?

Update.. Dropped the Village and Temple. Expanded the Castle and the Dungeon and Highlands.

Looking better :)

All done now. Interested in thoughts "talking to oneself on a forum is sometimes thought of as going Nuts".

Long Live the KING

Rules for The King token in Talisman

At the start of the game place The King token is placed on the Castle space.

Whenever any player rolls a 6 for their movement the first player clockwise may move the king token to any of the following spaces in order before the start of his or her next turn.

If the player forgets to move The King then The King is stuck in wealthy parties and regal dinners, and does not move. **** how unlucky?

The King has no effect on any cards on the space and has no effect on The Reaper if it is there too.

The Castle: The King returns to his natural home, as soon as he arrives he settles his realm back to the way he left it.

The Castle is The Kings dormant space. While The King token is here it has no-effect on game-play.

From the Castle The King token can only move to the Chapel, Graveyard or City space.

The Chapel: The King visits his good and holy followers at the Chapel; he seeks praise and blessing for his holy rule.

As soon as The King token is placed on the Chapel – all good characters in the Outer and Middle Regions may pay 2 gold to replenish up to 2 fate, at a cost of 2 gold each.

The Graveyard: The King visits his dead ancestors in their tombs and plots.

As soon as The King token is placed on the Graveyard – all evil characters in the Outer and Middle regions may pay 2 gold to heal up to 2 life, at a cost of 2 gold each.

From the Chapel or Graveyard space The King token can move to either the City space or back to the Castle space

The City: The King visits his people in the City. There is much rejoicing and people come from far and wide to see his highness.

As soon as The King token is placed on the City – move all strangers from every region (baring the dungeon) to the City.

So long as The King token is on the City space all players must pay 3 gold when they land on the City space (Neutral characters pay 1 gold), If any player can’t pay they can’t move that direction.

From City space The King token can only move to the Highland Entrance space or back to the Castle space

The Highland Entrance: The King decides to increase his realm; he travels to the Highlands to start plans to populate the wild lands.

While The King token is on the Highland Entrance no characters can enter or leave the Highlands through the Highland Entrance unless they first pay 3 gold (this includes the Mountain Trail) also all creatures/enemies in the Highlands gain +2 attack strength.

From the Highland Entrance space The King token can move to either the Dungeon Entrance space or back to the Castle space.

The Dungeon Entrance: The King takes his army and sieges the Dungeon to bring the evil Lord of Darkness to justice.

No player may enter or leave the Dungeon through the Dungeon Entrance while The King token is on the Dungeon Entrance (this includes the Dungeon Door).

The Lord of Darkness adds an extra dice to his attack strength.

While The King token is on the Dungeon Entrance, no character can use Special Abilities or cast Spells while in the Dungeon.

From the Dungeon Entrance space The King token can move to either the Highland Entrance space or back to the Castle space.

I think it is pretty well thought out, and the newer guidelines are an improvement and will help. But combine with disliking almost all NPC characters (and utterly hating the Reaper) which should not be controlled by a player, leaves me with little to say or recommend. I think as popular as the Reaper is (yes, I know I'm a minority), the King might appeal fairly well... except that unlike the Reaper there's little that players (rather than characters) can to do to use the King against each other. By the by, I would personally consider that a positive attribute, but many others wouldn't.

Lastly, I would be selective about how you use / reuse / alter and modify graphics, particularly those setup for new styles of card templates. You never know when that person who created them might be peeking in. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Thanks I will bear that in mind.

Update. Change

The Chapel: The King visits his good and holy followers at the Chapel; he seeks praise and blessing for his holy rule.

As long as The King token is on the Chapel – all good characters in the Outer and Middle Regions may pay 2 gold to replenish up to 1 fate a turn.

The Graveyard: The King visits his dead ancestors in their tombs and plots.

As long as The King token is on the Graveyard – all evil characters in the Outer and Middle regions may pay 2 gold to heal up to 1 life a turn.

Also

While The King token is on the Dungeon Entrance, no character can use Special Abilities or cast Spells while on the Tresure Chamber.

Right That balances it all out..
