Clue Appears Question

By Zoso, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

First off, I want to make sure I am playing this right. We always play that if an investigator is at a location where a clue appears during the mythos phase, that he just receives the clue token since he is already there.

Assuming that is correct, we had an odd occurence the other night. Two investigators were at the same location where a clue appeared. One player argued that both should get a token, but that did not seem right to me. So we decided to let the two players choose, and carried on. Just wondered if we were playing this right and if anyone else ever had that happen.

Well, the way I play it is - during his movement phase he can pick it up, prior to moving to another location etc.

I play this as based on turn order for the next round.

After the Mythos Phase is over, and Upkeep has ended, next is Movement - and if 2 or more players are in the same location and a clue appears, then whichever player goes first gets the clue.

The clues are collected as soon as they appear (better: can be collected, it's not mandatory). A Mythos card produces only one clue, so I'd say that the two players have to decide who's going to take the clue; otherwise first player's choice.

This is not correct; if you collect clues during your movement phase, you cannot pick up a clue, and then move, and then pick up other clues (if present in the new location); picking up clues during movement happens only when you finish the movement in a location / street area with clues. So basically, the clue generated by a Mythos card have to be collected as soon as they roll at your feet during Mythos; otherwise, you have to finish your movement in order to catch them during Phase 2

I agree with you on somantics. Thanks for the clarification 8)

Here is how I perceived it - strictly roleplaying my turn:

"After a long conversation with Professor Ayres at the Science Building - deliberating over the fundamental difference between flaura and fauna natural to this region, I found myself quite famished and thankfully ran into an odd fella on Miskatonic Steet whom kindly shared a sandwich with me. During our meal and conversation his dog kep whimpering and glancing towards the Woods. After a quick farewell, I sojouned South into the bramble. After a prolonged search, I had turned up...nothing.

I was preparing to leave and make a stop at the Library to check out another lead, when suddenly I heard a sound I hope to never hear again. It was as if someone were ripping heavy fabric in slow motion, but worst of all was the wail that followed it - deep, gruesome and painful. Whatever it was, I hoped it stayed far away.

As I turned, I almost tripped over a tree root but as I caught myself, I noticed an odd bundle wedged into the roots of an old withered tree. Carefully picking it up, I quickly left.

Later, in one of the private rooms at the Library I unwrapped the mildewed cloth and inside- a Statue. Paydirt!

Cheers,

R.S.
