Trinkets... as Objects or Magic Objects in ITB?

By JCHendee, in Talisman Home Brews

In the original In the Balance 1.0, I had certain Objects which did not count against object limit. This is nothing new, as it has been around as long as fan creators have been making cards for Talisman. Some were under a new subtype called Currency, for there is now no "Bag of Gold" cards in that expansion; other forms of currency are used instead for a little spice. Currency objects were anything small enough to fit in your coin/gold pouch and are not judged by what they do or what they are worth for exemption from Object LImit.

With the advent of the new Trinket subtype as the official label for an object that never counts against O.L., I've switched most of the ITB Currency cards over to that subtype. However, there has been debate among my group and 3 test groups as to whether or not they are Objects or Magic Objects. Several have unusual uses; some might be considered to have unusual propeties, but overall they not clearly magical. If anything, some might be considered sacred as a matter of viewpoint only. Their properties are more about how they are viewed in the land. And unlike some precious stone cards seen over the years, these may immediately be spent like gold under special conditions and do not need an extra step to turn them into actual gold.

Have a peek, see what you think, and see if you catch why they are not Magic Objects. I'm still open to suggestions on the mechanics as well. As always, Right-Click and View/Save to view them at 300ppi.
