Runebound as a cooperative game

By shadowtag, in Runebound

I recently got the base Runbound game and have been enjoying it with my family. My one dislike is that the included endgame rules focus on one player winning. I've been trying to think of a way to have the endgame more cooperative (players against the game and you all win or lose together) and I haven't come up with anything.

Does anyone have suggestions for a more cooperative endgame? Are there any expansions that offer this?

Thanks!

MORE cooperative? Now that's something I never thought I'd hear about Runebound.

I'm not familiar with any house rules to that effect myself, although you might check out the game on BoardGameGeek.com to see if there's anything in their forums or files areas.

It's true that only one person can win in the end, but that's never spoiled our fun with the game. We just play to see what happens. Whoever wins gets an extra pat on the back, but we all had fun getting there.

Steve-O is correct. There are several co-op variations available on BGG. Please tell us about your experience if you try any. I've always been curious about co-op myself, but play with some cut throat players that aren't into that :)

Well, I took Runebound on a camp out with my kids and tried to end the game with something a little more cooperative. Basically it just came down to perceptions and storytelling, I didn't need to change the rules at all. So, I think you're right. It's probably cooperative enough as is.
