Military 2-Claim question

By Eldil, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

When I select characters for claim, if the claim is two, do they have to be two different characters?

What I'm imagining is that I have Visersy Targaryen (Core Set) with Bodyguard attached. Can I select him for claim, discard the Bodyguard to save him, and the select him again (Saving him and putting him in my hand) to completely satisify the claim of two? Or do I have to select first, and then apply the effects to the two different characters I selected?

High-claim Military Challenges, Core Set rulebook page 22:

If, during a military challenge, the defending
player loses a challenge, and the attacking player
has a claim of 2 or higher, the defending player
must kill the required number of different characters,
all at once. Thus, the defender may not
choose to kill the same character multiple times,
even if that character could be saved.

Thanks. Sorry, I was reading page 14...

"Military Challenge: The defending opponent
must choose and kill a number of his characters
in play equal to the claim value on the attacker’s
revealed plot card (these do not have to be characters
who participated in the challenge). Killed
characters are placed in their owner’s dead pile."

...which was just slightly more ambiguous.

I appreciate the quick response.

Not really. It says if your attackers plot =2 you must choose and kill 2. Viserys with bodygard is not two characters it is only one character, you would still need to choose a second one to fulfill the rule above.
