Tech-Use to command murder servitors in Hit & Run

By Somonelse, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

The description for the Tech-Use skill say I can use it to command Servitors (please read top left of Pg88) like the Command Skill.

I'll tell you that my character is a Void Born Explorator with the Binary Chatter talent on a ship with the Murder Servitor Component.

Now assuming that I miraculously succeed on getting into the enemy ship.

Can I use my Tech-Use skill to command the Murder Servitors on the opposed Test?

Take note, that's 50 (Int) +10 (Skill) +10 (Talent) +20(Component) on an already +10 (Ordinary) Opposed Test = rolling under 100!!!!

My understanding is "Command Servitors as per Command Skill" allows you to tell your Fel bonus worth of Servitors what to do, just like the command skill. I don't read it as allowing you to replace command with tech use where ever servitors are involved. This can also depend on if Servitors of the Murder-Servitor component to be the entirety of the hit & run party.

I probibly wouldn't allow it, but it's in a grey enough area I would be supprised if many GMs did.

I just read up on murder servitors and i believe that you are correct. you can use them in that fashion. in fact i would argue that is the way in which was intended. I just hope that your GM has given you a set amount of these. The text states that you have a "stock" of these and that means limited numbers which would prevent you from being to over powered with it.

@Somonelse

Well, that's only 10 points more than you'd have if you used Command with a charismatic character.

Sorry, it's been awhile and it doesn't seem like the GM is going to run this campiagn anytime soon.

Okay, what I typed for my character's roll wasn't his maximum potential.

1. That's 50 Int with 2 more advance available, so 60 Int.

2. +10 Tech-Use skill with one more advance available, so +20 Tech-Use.

3. +10 Binary Chatter talent which I already have and mentioned

4. +10 Talent(Tech-Use) which I can eventually get.

5. +20 bonus from the Murder-Servitor component

6. if I can argue that I can use my Good MIU then that's another +10

7. On an already +10 Ordinary opposed test.

So that's rolling under 140.

If I add a Good Craftsmanship Cortex Implant which I will never be allowed to find, that adds another 2 degrees of success if I win the test. Or it will make the test one step easier if we are using the Inquisitor's Handbook rule.

@Cipher - Our Captain would be the most Charismatic character in our group I think, and truth be told he was the only one who went for Hit & Runs after Ensign Ricky died. Our Captain got shot down once and me picked him up from the wreck. We had quite a good laugh when we shot down an enemy Hit & Run attempt, arguing that other Captains would do the same thing so we'd win.

@Quicksilver - You sure sound like my GM, I hope you're not the same person. Anyways, Thanks for your reply.

And @Maverick - Sorry, I wasn't sure but I am going to assume you were agreeing with me so Thanks. I don't think we are going to let go of that component though, seeing how we don't know how to the replace them. (And then it hits me - the Inquisitors Handbook, Shh....)

Remember the maximum of +60 to any test.

He's exactly at +60.

I don't think the MIU would help - unless you'd like to spend the combat with a cable running between you and the servitors which might be somewhat... awkward.
