Custom scenarios

By amikezor, in Fan Creations

As I wrote somewhere else, I am really into scenarios these days. I have couples in french, and shall translate them into english. Here is the first one. All scenarios aim at focusing a chosen ambiance and explore different mechanics for the game. I am really trying to make "coherent" stories and avoid just mixing all monsters/gates/things together in a maybe too incoherent mixed blend. It is not as focused as Arkham Investigation but it is also way less work and much simpler to play with.

I did my best for the flavor text but english is not my first language. Any suggestions welcome.

I already see a major problem (maybe)— you'll only have four gates (two circles, two squares). Or is that part of the scenario design? I think it might be. It's very strange, but it sounds interesting (I'd strongly advise playtesting, since it's a major departure from the normal game design). I like the general design, although I kind of wish it were heraldized instead of a scenario— it seems like a really interesting idea (i.e. if it's done properly, it would actually make Kingsport fun).

I'll try to remember to comment a bit more on this later, but I'm going to be somewhat busy for a few more days (even though I'm technically back and checking threads again). I am... How shall we say... Lurking at the forum's threshold ;')

I do not think there are only 4 gates:

2 circles, 2 squares, 2 anti-slash, 2 hexagons, 1 for Kadath, 1 for inferior world. That is 10. In the version I tested extensively, there was 12. So I put them back (see update). I play tested this scenarios 5 times. So I can say it works :-). I both won and lost.

You can make it a herald if you just consider the rift part of it. I like it as a scenario for now. Because Marie is a key investigator as well as William Blain. They give you more time to sealed the rifts.

Anyway, it makes Kingsport more interesting (I thought gran_risa.gif )

Guh... Sorry. For some reason I was convinced that there were only six movement types (when actually it's that there are six movement combinations). I only had four hours of sleep if that's any excuse ;'D g'night.

no worry !

All comments are ALWAYS welcome (even after little sleep, which is my everyday situation these days... kids, you know... :o )
