Checking Created Character

By Egeslean, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

I tried my hand at making a character and I was wondering if anyone here would mind looking it over and seeing if I did it correctly. I will say, I know some of the stats are rather high, but that's what the dice roller gave me (I had to use one online since I lost my dice a bit ago).

Looks fine to me but not been playing long so you might want to get some body else to check it as well.

For reference you might want to put in the negative skill modifiers for not having a minimum of 5 points invested into them. I believe the negative result is -30, so that would be your base in any non trained skills. At least this will help you in skill checks outside your trained skills.

Other than that, I think everything is fine.

Agree with Dawitchy. That "-30" reminder is a good idea.

The calculations seem correct except the MK who are all spent (110 for Ki powers and 30 for the special technique).

Your special technique seems very costly and with lots of effects for a starting character. Don't forget that any action you do, even passive such as dodging will divide your accumulations by half, making you 1 in all Ki characteristics as you round down. So maybe split your technique into two less costly. Anyway the additional action won't help you much as it won't allow you to do an additional movement or attack, just not get you the -25 malus for multiple actions. It's one of the not so obvious things in Anima : you get one attack action (but you can attack several times in this one attack action), one move action (if you move only 1/4 of movement is considered free), one spellcasting action, one psy power action ... but if you do more than one of these actions you'll get -25 to both, if you do three, -50 to all ... So the additional action is good but if you only attack anyway it won't have any effect. This is the kind of effect that is good to habe maintained, so with +2 additional actions, you can make a full movement, attack, and jump over something with no penalty to the rolls. And having a very powerful attack since the start could spoil your character progression, as Ki costs a lot and you may not develop such a powerful attack until way later in the game. I advise my players to begin with an offensive technique (+10 attack, +25 damage, cost 3 DEX, 3 CON, 2 STR) and a defensive technique (+1 additional defense, +25 dodge for 4 AGI, 4 DEX and 4 CON).

I could be mistaken, but I think you can only spend three DP on advantages, rather than buy three advantages. You spent 6 points on advangates.

Other than that it looks good. I didn't check your math.

Yeah you only get 3 CP, and you can take up to 3 disadvantages.

You can take up to as many advantages as you can afford.

By default you start with 3 Creation Points, and can choose a MAXIMUM of 3 disadvantages which can garner you a whopping 6 points extra IF you chose 3 two point disadvantages... like if you chose Deep Sleeper (1), Mute (1) and Slow Reactions (2) <- yes the one that grants -60 on initiative... those will give you 4 extra Creation Points to use, but those disadvantages are kinda extreme and require some creative role playing... these are the ones I have on my Mentalist...

Correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm still new to Anima, but under your Ki dominions (is dominions the right word, I don't have my book with me), you say you spend 100 of your 140 MK on them. Your math seems wrong to me. 40 (Use of Ki) + 30 (Ki Control) + 10 (Weight Elimination) + 10 (Presence Extrusion) + 10 (Energy Armor) + 10 (Use of Necessary Energy) = 110. Not 100.

I just noticed that you put your final attack and defense in your class bonus spot.

I also saw that you had really high stats. Since the rules let you roll for your stats it is entirely possible to get three 10's, but if I had a player show up to play with that character and I hadn't watched him roll up his stats, I would make him re-roll while I was watching.
