Storage box improvement

By rainbringer, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hi, guys,

since the original box is quite poorly arranged (IMHO), I've decided to rearrange it. The result is very nice, comfortable and the process of making it is pleasant happy.gif

I've also made diagrams of this. The diagrams are in 1:1 scale (except the base), so you can print them and use them as stencils.

Enjoy and tell me what you think :)

P.S. All the sizes are in the metric system.

I did something very similar with my box box but added a 3 sided box with a divider that can be lifted out to hold the tokens. Just make it small enough that the kingdom boards can sit on top.

With only 3 sides you dont have to tip out the tokens when you play, just take it out of the box put it on you play area and slide out tokens as you need then. Then when you put it back in, the box becomes the 4th wall and the kingdom boards on top keep everything contained.

Just make it slightly narrower than the kingdom boards and glue some extra bits to hold the box center of the kingdom board compartment.

I made the power tokens from Board game geek so I made the lift out box with 3 compartments.

your idea is rly nice and I apreciate a lot your handmade work, but what about buying some of these :P

zip lock bags own 9 pocket pages (for general use, though I may have a misconception on having to put in and get out your whole deck of cards every time you want to play, you can tell im new at this card stuff)

I like rainbringers box division with snazy artwork that would have made awesome packaging for the core set. I personally like the flexibility of ziplock bags, but you have fulfilled every need possible with the compartments. 8 card compartments is just right imo, 6 for the races then the remaining 2 for neutrals (1 destruction 1 order)

Kragg,

the first reason is that I didn't know about those pocket-pages gran_risa.gif I buy my games from eBay, so I don't actually wonder in a store and I don't see the other products except for the ones I'm looking for.

The second reason is that I just like the hand-making. For example, me with my friend have hand-made more than 500 very high-quality cards of Race For The Galaxy with the expansions happy.gif

But I won't argue that buying is faster.

Andreh,

a good idea! I think I'll add that box for power tokens. Thanks!

trust me, I do apreciate a lot your handwork, don't get me wrong :P

@davidtj I dont put all the cards in the 9-slot paper and whenever I have to play i take them back. I got all my playings decks in several deckbox:

all the others cards, which are not been played, remain in the 9-slot papers :P Since I bought 3x core set, i left 1 set of capitals/boards in every place I play (home/club/shop) so I just move with my deckbox w/o anything else.

Kragg,

don't get nervous, it's OK, I'm not getting you wrong :)

About the 3-walled box for the tokens... I think I'll pass. I'm building now a roof for my cells, so I could turn the box upside-down without messing the cards lengua.gif

Thinking of designing something for Chaos in the Old World also...

Rainbringer - You made a really good and usefull storage for all component. And You can use this idea in other games. I think maybe your idea is cheaper then buying deck boxes. But deck boxes are really usefull - especialy when you are carring Your deck to friends for a play.

I use rubber bands.

That looks great, man. I may do something similar to mine. And in the spirit of continuing home grown box improvement... What about turning the cards on their side and making tab cards to separate decks from extra cards within the faction? :D I've got a buddy who did that with all his Dominion cards. It's nerd cool to the max.

Thanks :)

I've thought about that, but it's problematic: if you do too wide slot - your cards will fall, if the cell is too narrow, it might not be sufficient for future expansions.

It may be time to get corrugated!
