Anima Gaia?

By GreyLord, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

I have no interest in the RPG itself, however I DO enjoy the card game that's come out and the world interests me. I don't want to play the RPG or try to decipher numbers and such, but a book about the background and history of what's going on in the card game intrigues me. I'm wondering, therefore, if someone like me would find the new book Gaia (I think that's its name) useful or not, or would there be too much game/RPG and not enough info to make it interesting for someone with my interests in the world of Anima?

Thanks

I took a look at the physical copy at my local FLAGS, they have about 7 pages devoted to actual "rules" in the back of the book. The rest if pure world setting fluff. I'm getting the book for the same reason you are. I don't like the system presented, but I think the world is interesting. In your case I think that's what your looking for.

Most Of The Book Is About The World Such As Towns Citys, Governments, People, Such As How They Live And A Life-Line Of How Gaia Became What It Is Such As Events And Such. A Great Book, You Should Get It.

You may also want to take a look at the Anima Tactics book; I understand that there is a fair amount of setting info there also.

Can't wait to get my hands on it.

For a fluff book, it's quite well written. Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG itself is quite condensed in the rules while Gaia: Beyond The Dreams is saturated with setting... for example, the races of Gaia are not even mentioned (from what I can see) in the core book.

If you're interested in the flavor of the cities, people, history and culture throughout all the different countries represented in Gaia, this is a no brainer. I am currently DMing a campaign right now in Gaia, and the Book has been a great way to flesh out the player character histories as well as presenting good starting points for adventures to come.

If you are buying it just for pure information on Gaia and love the card game (I own this too), it's a good supplement, but at around $60 for this book I'm not sure if it's something you really need as it isn't written like a novel, but more like a reference guide.
