Horrific Horde. . .
Available Soon. Nice.
Not too excited about the price, though. I am unfortunately not going to be able to afford this until possibly Christmas or even later. Even so, I'm looking forward to the first impressions from other players...
More Gobbos
-BL seems stuck in an endless rut.I hope FFG will finally bring out a new Races(elves,Undead..whatever)frankly the lack of new armies is not helping BL get back some ot its orginal Buzz.
OD
I don't expect too much more from FFG. I mean, Battlelore isn't a GW property
.
Just give me Horrific Hordes and a Dwarven army pack and I will be happy. I don't expect that we will ever see additional races.

I think the reason there isn't that much buzz about BL is because FFG is not forthcoming with updates to the Horrific Horde and the (probable) upcoming Dwarven Army expansion. While I wouldn't mind seeing other races as well (elves and undead would probably be my choice as well), I cannot wait for HoHo and the Dwarven Army Pack. I also wouldn't mind seeing some type of supplement for an all human army as well. Perhaps if FFG promoted the original BL a little more, there would be more to be buzzing about.
I agree. FFG is doing their best to promote BoW but almost nothing to promote BL. We wouldn't even have the Horrific Horde review if there wasn't the whole "A BattleLore Game" ordeal and the fuss it generated.
They are pushing as hard as they can towards BoW and that's what gets me really angry. I don't care about BoW. I don't care if it is a good game or a bad game. I DO care that BoW's success is BL's grave.
I agree about BL not being a GW games, but I probably think it will set at least for two more traditional armies (ye, Elves and Undead) - I don't dare to say more, but...
Usually games like this tend to give players "all the classics", to cover the expected iconic and plus some "brand identity" armies: GW tried settled for the Skaven, for example (paradoxically, them too being "a classic" nowadays for the very same reason), after an unfortunate experiment with the Fimir (slightly celtic cyclopean lizard wih a mace tail, a flawed and perhaps unmarketable concept which leaved fond memories in every Heroquest player).
One thing sadly underused in BL is the modularity given from the specialist card: I mean, the plethora of new races in that old famous topic from Richard Borg was perhaps too much to manage as full fledged armies, but a mercenary here and there to show that "there is a big weird fantasy world out there" is a simpler and fun way to implement a lot of interesting units.
By the way, Elberon is doing something along this line including the "deployment rules" for many of his custom races, taking advantage of CtA; the seemingly welcomed by the community of gamers around the world Summoner Wars is doing this. And when I reread the description of "The Shadow Army" of Richard Borg, where, I think, would end many of the dark doubles of the "forces of light" races, plus, perhaps... Warriors of Chaos? Demons?, I cannot avoid to think about how neatly the basics of a similar system would work.
Beside, there are a lot of fun minis out there ready to be customized - the man to ask would be my visually impaired friend cited in another topic, a manic of the littler scales (he has a blog which I'm shamlessly going to promote, now: http://nonerdsland.blogspot.com/ , and, yes, Battle at Affro's as at my home).
I'm an urredemable optimistic: I see something new in the future of BL; well, the promises about a "game battle system to end all game battle system, and heavily supported too" perhaps were scattered in the wind, but perhaps the rythm of publishing expansion will be that of Wings of War... I hope!

Agree. If HoHo turned out even just halfway competent (okay, may be 3/4 competent), and then Dwarven army pack, I'd say FFG had done a big thing for Battlelore. They may or may not continue afterwards, but the release of these two will be a safe point.
Worried about the total lack of HoHo previews... I mean other games got previews even if there's nothing new. Just some pictures and words that people have already know. But nothing at all for HoHo.

I agree, Elberon's homebrew rules are very nice! A friend of mine and me used his (older) Elven rules as a base for our own rules and we played a few scenarios with it, it was very nice! We will be trying more stuff out more and make some scenarios with/for them. Also planning on buying some minis even though it isn't strictly necessary as long as one of the sides is made up of all Elfs for example...
All we need now is a scenario and a scenario editor which can handle this...
Or do we?
Although I prefer to create battlemaps myself (this cuts down on the setup time considerably!):
Niiiice! Waaant! Monsyllabic rapture!
@Aenea: how do you play when one army is in the left flank and the other is in the right flank.
And what program are you using to build your maps? Do tell please. . .

Some of those scenarios aren't real scenarios, they were quickly made to show off the new unit types and races
The program I use is an application written by myself in C++ using Qt 4.6. It is portable so it can run on multiple OS's (Linux, Windows, OSX) but it's sadly not in a state where I can release it. Maybe one day I have enough time to do just that...
It doesn't just do BattleLore though and isn't just a scenario editor either. Am thinking of splitting off the scenario editing part one day and release it, who knows, it might happen. Funnily enough it does support multiple boards which can be layout next to each other which it has been able to do for quite some time (was meant for Tide of Iron) but can be used for Battle of Westeros without too much trouble I think...

Only the top scenario is one we created and actually played, it's quite enjoyable. We also used the Elves on existing scenarios to see how it changed the battles...

I'm also a c++ programer if you want any help to stable a release just let me know.
Just set up a version control system and he can both work on it.
One thing I cannot stable a windows version, only a linux or mac os.. still trying to get anothe machi to have a windows machine to develop stuff.
