Today we played against Rhan Tegoth, with the Black goat of the woods as Herald. 5 investigators (Hank, Marie, Norm, Patrice, Silas), two expansion boards (Kingsport and Innsmouth) and a small card expansion in (The Black goat of the Woods).
Mythos zero: a gate to the Dreamlands opened at the Witch house and two horrible monsters appeared (a Wraith - flying immediately to the Sky - and a Formless spawn).
First round: Marie went shopping for some spells in order to complete her personal story, and Silas followed to the Old magic shoppe, just to toss her some extra money and have an encounter there. Patrice went hunting for Hank, giving him a magical weapon and whishing him good luck: the little Hank had an Elder sign, and wanted to use it after visiting the Dreamlands. One shot, one kill, the Formless spawn became a Formless trophy and Hank entered the Dreamlands with a Corruption. OW encounter: dark tendrils delayed him.
Mythos: Strange sightings! A monster surge at the Witch house allowed some nasty creatures to pass the veil between worlds (so +1 doomer for Tegoth); one of the monsters was a Cultist, for another +1 doomer for the AO.
Second round: no one dared to engage any of the monsters at the Witch-house (basically, an Elder thing, a Ghoul, a Child of the goat and a Proto-shoggoth); everyone went collecting clues, apart from Norman, who finished his movement in a street area, and Marie, who remained at the Old magic shoppe to complete her PS. OW encounter: Hank still deleayed, for another awful OW encounter.
Mythos: a gate opened at the Witch-house. So another monster surge, +1 doomer cause of the herald, the Wraith moved on Norman and too many monsters around started populating the outskirts
Third round: Marie killed the Wraith, thanks to an Enchanted blade + 2 Wither spells, allowing Norm to move away. He went to Hibb's roadhouse, just to meet a strange guy not allowing him to seat on a chair, but forcing Norm to move to Black cave for another encounter. Norm drew the card, which made a gate to the Underworld appear (for another +2 doomer, since one of the monsters spawn was a cultist).
Hank had an encounter in the OW that resulted in him being delayed AGAIN.
Mythos: a gate opened at the Esoteric order of Dagon.
In a couple of rounds we had 4 investigators in the first area of the OW (all but Marie), 9 doomer on Rhan Tegoth doom track and we had to face the concrete possibility of a final battle arriving very soon). Fortunately, two of them - Norm and Patrice - had a Find gate, so they were able to come back and seal the first two gates, while Marie used her Witch blood ability to remove a doomer. The following round Marie removed a second doomer, Hank returned, killing all the monsters on the Witch-house gate, and Silas returned to the Innsmouth gate, killed a Zombie and avoided the fight with the Formless spawn. Both sealed their gates, Hank with the Elder sign, so Rhan Tegoth lost another doomer.
At this moment, we had closed all gates but one still open at the Historical society. Two monsters were there, a Dark young and a Child of the Goat. Although Norman had been almost killed during his experience in the Underworld - he had 3 sanity and only 1 stamina left - he decided to enter that gate. Thanks to a silver key, he was able to avoid facing the gate guardians, and Hank followed him (with 3 stamina and 1 sanity left), harvesting a crop of hexagonal monsters and new corruptions. They both entered the gate and the first OW encounter Norman had, made him going LiTaS but nevertheless able to close the gate. So we had five gate trophies, and none open in Arkham

- at a certain point of the game, Hank had 7 corruption cards
