By Captain Harlock, in Rogue Trader

I was perusing the Solegends website and I came across this gem:

Apparently games workshop in their distant past DID make a specific minature for a rogue trader. He has a powersword and a bolt pistol, and what appears to be a long coat, cargo pants and a 2000 AD style Shoulder pauldron.

Back in the day eh...The best I could think for a Rogue Trader-ish minature from the GW range is the one for Karl Jerico. I seem to remember the classic combi weapon assassin on the page but I never seem to remember the rogue trader being about, and yet there muts have been as many about because they were sold in the same blister pack. Unless of course as is the way of GW it was renamed Imperial guard captain or something.

Any of the older afficianados possess this minature. I doubt its going to turn up on e-bay...

Thought it would be renamed... the exact same minature appears in the winter 1990 catalogue as a adventurer with power sword and Bolt pistol.

I think that a better picture of the minature can probably be found in the 1st edition rogue trdaer book of the astronomicon.

Back in 1st Ed, the RT was the one often leading the armies. they'd be used to ferry the forces around, before any ret-cons of lore was bought in. :) i still love my books.

The mini labeled 'Inquisitor with power weapon' actually says 'rogue trader' on its tab (I painted one recently). He's quite close to the illustration of Rogue Trader Zuckerman in the 1987 supplement 'Chapter Approved: First Book of the Astronomican' too.

I've just checked it now and it does bear a passing resemblance. GW in those days created minatures to match artwork in its supplements. Just have to love the artificier patchwork powerarmour on Zuckerman, kind of reflects the the ecletic nature of Rogue Traders...standard Corvus armour would have been too boring.

Andy! When are you going to finish your third book? Any hints of the themes you will be exploring?

Hey mate

Yesterday, and not just yet ;-)

I think that the master officer of the fleet looks fairly suitable for a rougue trader, maybye convert a bold pisol and powersword onto him? As for the astropath... I think he's spot on:

Yeah the astropath is spot on, actually better than the new astropath in the thge old rogue trader day who looked more like a starved tramp than a valued member of the Imperium. The officer liason of the fleet looks like a cool figure (love the white gloves) but I feel he doesnt have that archetypal 'eccentric/roguish explorer of space look about him. Mind you any servant of the imperium can be a rogue trader now so he could possibly pass as a naval officer type rogue trader. He does look a bit on the plump side though... clearly the type of rogue trader that orders a macrocannon broadside rather than one used running very fast from (murderous xenos/threat).

It quite funny I've just gone to TV tropes website and found a trope of 'badass longcoat'. Hands up and be counted! Who amongst you has a rogue trader sporting a 'badass longcoat'? Regretably ours doesnt. He wears a cavalry style jacket with lots of buttons... Not sure it make him any less 'badass' (whatever that means)

Ah, the old days. When men were men, women could wear space marine armor, and squats were plentiful.

Dammit Baron control yourself! Dont mention the bearded ones! word will get back to games workshop and they will set the re-release clock back to zero! :D
