Thanks again to all the players for a great tournament and especially to the wonderful guys from Germany and Poland who droveall the way to our city. A special appreciation for courage is reserved for Hamburg players who made the 7 hour drive to Prague over the night and after the tournament drove right back.

Interested in the list that won. I've had a lot of success with the Order RBT deck and have thought a lot about the Destruction version. I may favor Destruction because Troll Vomit is typically better than anything Order has and you don't need to use as much brain power developing the right things and not dying.

Can't wait to see the list, try it out, and write about it on my blog!

Warhammer Invasion Regionals Prague 2010

Hi all, this Saturday I attended nice tournament and I want to share my experience. Thanks to the enthusiasm and skill of my friend, we had Regionals in Prague. 17 players came to play and almost all races were represented. (Chaos was missing, I think)

Now, to my deck. I am that type of player who always try to build a unique deck, and truly hate current skaven rush and order BT decks. For several weeks I tried to build control decks, but none of them were fast enough against orc/skaven, so I admitted defeat and switched from control to Orc rush.
Deck
Base : Orc
Deck Name : Save the Green, save the World

Units (21)
3x - Veteran Sellswords
3x - Crooked Teef Goblins
3x - Spider Riders
3x - Lobber Crew
3x - Snotling Pump Wagon
3x - Clan Moulder's Elite
3x - Festering Nurglings

Supports (17)
3x - Warpstone Excavation
3x - Contested Village
3x - Alliance Chaos-Orc
3x - Choppa
3x - Scrap Heap
2x - Rock Lobber

Tactics (12)
3x - Innovation
3x - Seduced By Darkness
3x - Waaagh!
3x - Troll Vomit

Total (50, 17 different)

After the tournament I have to say, that no card was useless. Corruption proved to be a game winning mechanism (thanks Michal) and Waaagh! often sealed the victory. Rock Lobber also won me at least two games and even Scrap Heap saved my game against Dark Elf. Only change I can imagine is including Smash-go-Boom. (may be instead one Rock lobber) (thanks Michal again happy.gif )

So after war painting my face with Orkish green, we started tournament.
Round 1 - Filip Schneider – Empire/Dwarf
Filip is a friend from our Prague playing group, good player, but he plays from 1 set of each expansion. So his deck is not so strong, but on the other hand he plays a few unexpected cards. In the first game I made a big mistake (my first and last in that day), which cost me the game, but second and third game I won.
Game 2:1 (2:1) – Tournament 1:0

Round 2 - Jan Komárek – Verena Empire
Hey, first two rounds and I play against czech friends ? From 17 people they are only 6 Czechs and we are beating each other. It must be some kind of curse. Jan is playing verena empire, we play together a lot and I know what to expect. First game he plays quite aggressively, I was unable to vomit and my poor green boyz were unable to break Protection of the Empire. So inevitable the end came, and I lost. Second and third game I was faster, had better draw, while Jan did not showed me any countersrike, verena, zealot or pistoliers combo, so I won.
Game 2:1 (4:2) – Tournament 2:0

Round 3 - Aleksandra Smeeka - Dwarf
Non Czech finally! Hurray happy.gif Games were pretty straightforward, dwarfs were unable to kill my green army so despite several Master Runes of Valaya I was faster. Corruption proved here as the winning element, because it slowed my opponent so much that I had enough time to build an impressive orc army.
Game 2:0 (6:2) – Tournament 3:0

Round 4 - Przemek Zub – Orc RBT
These were the fastest games I played that day. Both games I had a good draw and slaughtered the opponent in few turns. The two games lasted max. 10 minutes. This quick victory had quite a negative impact on final matches, because I haven’t had time to learn my opponent’s deck, which surprised me in the finals.
Game 2:0 (8:2) – Tournament 4:0

Round 5 - Jacek "Crom" Kowalski – DE Skaven
Well, only one word on this round. SCOUTS. I really hate these guys. I don’t know how he did it, but in both games he always managed to get out several scouts, which I was unable to kill. After several turns scouts reported that my orc camps are empty, so GreySeer came and burned them all.
Game 0:2 (8:4) – Tournament 4:1

After 5 swiss rounds, they were 4 Czech (from 6) in top 8, which sounded promising. Battle for glory began.
Quarterfinals - Jan Paroubek – DE skaven
We played three very close games. I believed that I could be faster than him if he won’t be lucky on scouts. First game he was. One scout ALWAYS picked me a winning card out of hand (from 4 or 5 cards in hand). ****! Last turn he hit Waaagh! and that cost me the game. I really, really hate scouts. Fortunately the second and third games, no scouts appeared (or were vomited) so my green boyz overraced his rats. (Waaagh and corruption were again win cards but Scrap heap was really shining and won me the second game !)
Game 2:1 (10:5) – Tournament 5:1

Semifinals – Jan Komárek – Verena Empire
First game I had a good start, burned the battlefield by Waaagh and prepared to burn the quest zone by an attack for 11 damage. But Jan showed a miracle, defended by pistoliers and transported two developments from kingdom. Next turn counter strike knight appeared, next turn another and Verena sealed the bitter end. It was the best game I played that day. Second game I had a very good draw and overwhelmed his poor, undeveloped empire. Last game was close again, I fast burned battlefield, and the turn before I would be judged by Verena, I attacked his kingdom with seduction and Waagh for 13 damage. I was in the finals ! Uff.
Game 2:1 (12:6) – Tournament 6:1

Finals - Przemek Zub – Orc RBT
I knew that Przemek played repeater and many cards killing my green boyz, but I did not know that he played a total disruption deck. Maybe I was tired, or already happy that I got to the finals but I was unable to adapt to his strategy. I had not so great draws as in the swiss round (actually in second game it was quite horrible draw) so I was not fast enough (despite worse draw in both games he was 1 or 2 damages close to defeat). He was continuously killing all units I threw on him, which was ok, but he was also able destroy my draw with pillage and burn it down. And this fact cost me both games. In the second game I had only useless tactics in hand, so the moment before death I played 3x innovation and waaagh for nothing but mortal scream. GG to opponent and a second place ended this tournament.
Game 0:2 (12:8) – Tournament 6:2

For a while sadness overpowered me, when I saw the cool prizes which the winner got, but now when pain from defeat is over ( happy.gif ) I see that for that courage to build a unique deck he deserved it. Prague was conquered by our Polish neighbors, which really hurts, so for the next big event in Poland it is our bounded duty to gain victory and glory back to Prague happy.gif

Warboss liborhood Out

My friend Libor's tournament report:

Congratulations to Przemek from germany. As you were the only one who beat me during the swiss, i guess you deserve winning the cup ;-)

Thank you to Michal for the great hospitality, its been a nice and well organised tournament and it was a pleasure to meet you and the other players. Two remarks for your resultlist: the player ranked on 5. place (who's me) played DE/skaven rush. And i played vs. libor in the fifth round. Greets to him, its been a fantastic and very close battle.

We arrived hamburg at 11p.m. on saturday and fell to sleep in same second. I believe Sascha is still sleeping... But it's been worth the journey. It makes me a little sad that there are no regionals in germany that i can invite you to. Hope to meet you again at some other tournaments maybe as a player so that you can prove your promised skill ;-)

Your journey still amazes me, I would never be able to do that :D

Anyhow, I have finished the first video from the Regionals, showing the bloody Semifinal match between Przemek Zub and Ondrej Sestak and here it is:

The winning deck was probably illegal . It uses 4 cards with the title "Alliance". Therefore it violates the rule that only 3 copies of a card by title are allowed.

Nah, we had this come up a while ago. The title of the alliances are midway down the card like the other supports - the support card template is different from the unit card template. So the titles are things like "Chaos / Orc", not "Alliance".
