Couple quick questions

Highgarden Honor Guard and the cards like it, can someone explain to me how they would be useful? It seems like you are pretty much just giving your opponent a free character to kill for military claim.

Also Lightbringer doesn't give a character vigilant correct?

You are correct that lightbringer does NOT give a character Vigilant. The Vigilant tag applies to the lightbringer itself. So, anytime you win a challenge, lightbringer stands, giving it the opportunity to save attached character again. It's important to note that attachments stand and kneel independent of what they are attached to. So, when you kneel the character that lightbringer is attached to, lightbringer stays standing.

As for the honor guards, well, you are likely interpreting that right as well. I've never seen anyone use them. But they can be played from your hand (for free) under your opponents control. And then, after that opponent wins a challenge in which honor guard participated, you get control of them.

Here are some possible uses.

- If you are in a melee, the opponent that controls the honor guard might be heavy on attacking your mutual enemy, therefore it can serve to hamper a powerful foe from multiple angles.

- after you give the opponent control of the honor guard, attack with something weak, in a situation that the oppenent would need to block with your honor guard (and win as defender),and now you get control your powerful unit without paying it's gold cost.

So, it is a tricky card, and it can backfire, and like I said, I've never seen it used. But, if you are crafty enough, it can turn the tides in your favor.

Hope that answered everything.

You can also use it to shut down Bear Island (at least until they kill it off for claim).
