How easy is A game of thrones Lcg to pick up and ofther newbie questions

By DavidTJ, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Coming from a casual 40k backrground there was a small warhammer invasion craze at our club, we now have arround 10 who play it on a regular basis, now warhammer invasion is uperb and all but currently it does lack proper multiplayer, very often I play with 2 of my freinds outside of the clubs usual times, so seing as there were 3 of us I wanted a game to suit, which is why after looking arround ffg for a bit I found a game of thrones, I read the first book, and on an impulse bought the game.

So

1. was it a wise move going for a game of thrones to fit our 3 player needs

2. how easy is it to pick up, from the brief look around the forums warhammer invasion seems the easiest lcgso will my freinds who havent heard anything about the game or book series be able to pick it up like they have for warhammer invasion.

3. How long would an average 3 player game last

4.what are the best 3 decks to start out with as a new player solely from the core set.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this thread, any further incites you may bring will be great.

I normally play with 3 players and we all just started recently. I'd say this is a great choice for a 3 player game. Our games normally last about 1.5 hours but I'm sure we coudl get it done quicker if we didn't goof around so much and constanly trash talk. I'd say the game is best with 4 players though. Personally I think Stark, Bara, and Lanni are the best from the core set but Targ isn't bad.

It is a great game for multi-player (called melee here).

Once you get familiar with it I'd say it will average out to about 60-75 minutes per game.

Have them watch the excellent FFG tutorial to learn how to play.

Stark,Baratheon, and Targaryen are probably the best decks to start with in a three person game directly from the Core Set. Once you get a feel for how the game works and the importance of each challenge type then you may want to swap one of those out for Lannister. Lannister tends to either run rampant or get stuffed in the Core Set games depending on the various players styles and their ability to grasp that military dominance is not always the best way of controlling the game to your path to victory.
