Resistance Heat Talent

By ironworker, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Does the resistance heat talent apply to fire also? ei would you add the +10 to your Toughness roll not to light on fire?

I've got another question. Since the official ruling is that you get +10 to dodge psychic powers from resistance (psychic powers), do you get +10 to dodge melta, las, flamers and other heat based weapons from resistance (heat)? That seems to be the rather silly implication.

And yes, I would apply the bonus to fire aswell.

probably not...

if you got your hands on resistance (fire) then yes (probably even flamers and firebolts and fire checks and checks to put out fire on yourself)

but fire is not heat... heat is energy stored in matter while fire is a chemical reaction where stuff oxidates in an exothermic reaction (radiates energy... in this case heat)

so while a fireball is a psychic power you get a +10 to dodge it (or not) you would not get this +10 if the fireball was not from a psychic power origin (the almighty mechanical gaspowered fireball launcher... or maybe just a plasma weapon)

so while you maybe resistant to the heat that the fire radiates you are not reistant to the chemical burn or the fireball itself because both is not heat...

if you however walk along a bridge that crosses a fiery pit and does energy damage to you it should trigger because this is mainly heat (and toxins like carbonmonoxide but that is not asked here)

maybe you could get a bonus against fire damage because it's effect partly is based on heat, but a fireball and being set on fire sure isn't

Never mind, read wrong.

Agreed. I've viewed both Resistance (Heat) and Resistance (Cold) to be more concerned with environmental conditions than any actual "attacks" made against the possessor.
