New expansion Trail of the Damned (?) coming in August

By BeardFan, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

that's just great ;D

slightly soon for my wallet :) but very good news another bigger expansion is only a few months away. If we keep to the same schedule of 1 pack a month by september my collection should grow to around 860 cards. Nearly 3x as many cards as i intend to have in my 6 decks giving a lot of choice.

Undies gets two thumbs up, but unfortunately, Lizzies in the mix make the net total negative one thumb.

i wonder who will come in the future.

ok bretonnia and wood elf could be good neutral-only for order adds but what about the destro side? who is left? ogre? chaos dwarf?

Well overall there are 15 current warhammer army books it just depends how ffg want to catergarize things.

From the looks of it, beastmen, warriors of chaos and daemons of chaos all fall into the chaos category.

Weve had skaven, orcs and goblins, empire, high eves, dark elves, dwarfs, this expansion would also add lizardmen and vampire counts.

So were left with wood elves, bretonnia, ogre kingdoms, and tomb kings,

It seems a safe assumption they will seperate tomb kings and vampire counts and not just class them both as undead. So were looking at least another 3 large expansions in my opinion.

LIZARDMEN!!!! YESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PUT ME DOWN FOR 30!!

But seriously, if this is true, this will be my favorite game EVER!!!

I cannot speak german, so would someone mind writing a general sumary of what it does say? Thanks

English version of the news article and english ffg site dedicated to march of the damned

I am very pleased there will be 165 cards in the set up from 110 in assault on ulthuan (though that did have to cover the cost of the boards and their designs)

If this comes in at same kind of price of assault on ulthuan I will be very pleased.

Ohh I like this. Can't wait for more info. =)

do you guys think the cards gonna be x3 or x1 like on Assault for Ulthuan?

ok looks like I'm gonna answer by myself.

With 165 (3 copies each of 55 cards) consisting of new deck-building options for players of all factions, March of the Damned brings, as neutral froces, the mysterious danger of the jungle-dewlling Lizardmen and the foul dark arts of the Vampire Counts to Warhammer: Invasion.

that's gonna be great.

My idea for wood elf theme is starting to take form.

They should be introduced as a focus for a cycle, like Skaven were. Make them Order only. Give them low health and attack numbers. To make up for the flaws, give them an ability (doesn't have to be a keyword like Savage or Necro). They would have abilities that focus on them being scouts and having that discard potential. A good answer to the Nerco ability. I can see why the two last previewed cards are coming out and were previewed now.

Necro and placing cards in discard will allow you to "fish out" the units for a huge supply of reserves. Undead will not be able to deck out easily with those two cards "Order in Chaos and Entropy".

I like it! Say I want a powerful card in my deck. I can discard cards till I find it. Then use the Necro ability to get it. If it is not a card from the Vampire Counts that was wanted then just play Entropy to make sure you get to draw it.

Lizardmen, Dwarves, and High Elves look to be future pals. With heals. Savage is only a bonus when you have dwarves that can toughed the savage up or high elves that can heal the damage.

Hrmmm. I wonder if Lizardmen and Vampire Counts cards will only be exclusive to this set, or are they going to trickle in like Skaven cards seem to be doing in the enemy cycle.

I wonder if this set will include a relic for these two armies.

Have You see the new cards?

On the news there is only Crypt Ghouls but on the site March Of The Damned in the about section there are Skeletal Horde and Skink Skirmishers. The site also includes some great art that I think will be on the cards for this big and great expansion.

Can't wait to have it in my hands!

Wait, they aren't their own factions, just Neutral "chaff"? Looks like pass for me then sad.gif .

Yes those are not new armies, they don't have Capitols but still You can buildt there own decks and use them as armies. Just You will need to use a capitol from another race. Thoase are just neutral cards but look at the effects and strategy they will bring with them. :)

Your assumption for tomb kings/vampire counts was wrong, as on the new cards there is Undead trait but not Vampire Counts. Maybe the Vampire trait (if any) is just limited to true vampires like the counts, vargulf, blood knights. This is logical, as the source of VC/TK magic is the same.

About neutrals, there are possibilities without armybooks too : Araby, Chaos Dwarves, Kislev. Ok, maybe chaos dwarves will be included in chaos.

Dam : as it was discussed many-many times before, more races would hard to be supported in BP-s in a regular basis. I'm happy as it is.

In the table top game chaos dwarves engineered the hell cannons. IIRC

It's not like the races are evenly supported as is, so I don't see how adding a couple of new races in the next deluxe expansion would make things worse in that regard gui%C3%B1o.gif .

Then again, maybe it's better to know all I'm looking forward to are the Arcane Fire (still don't have that) and maybe first couple of BPs from the second cycle (will need the Dragon for the HElves to give them more oomph). Will the Undies/Lizzies start to get cards in the 2nd cycle already? If not, might see that cycle's spoilers to the end, but after that, if BPs start having even more cards with no use, not much point in continuing to buy them sad.gif . Had they been new races with their own capital boards, would've been tempted, even though Lizzies are the least interesting thing ever to grace Old World.

Looks good. Tomb Kings would make a fun neutral addon for the VC's.
I'm very pleased. My brother will be quite happy with this.gran_risa.gif

My assumption did just work on what the 15 army books were there are 5+ armies that were discontinued or dont have an army book, and it is likely for them to combine tomb kings and vampires as you suggest, because they have already combined 3 armies under 1 roof in the chaos deck.

My only problem when this comes out will be if i actually will play order again. Vampire counts are so much cooler imo :)

I'd also prefer to see Lizardmen and The Undead as new races and not a 'supplement' for the current ones. They would feel more unique. I will sadly pass on this one if I don't find more people playing the game in my area as building f.e. two destruction decks from 1 core set and 1 shared set of Undead would only bring misunderstandings..

In my area, the group I play with see's this as a way to have the order players join Destruction with the Undead, and with myself and one other going for Lizardman decks and since I play Lizardman in the tabletop version, i'm very excited about me lizards. Now hopefully there shall be enough in the actual set for a deck of Lizards. If not, I shall probably go High Elves and Lizards for fluff at least.

Yes, those are only neutral cards but still you can build a really nice army with them. I did that for Skaven and they work great.
