Just replacing one empire with another. We will still be in the dark times. This is no longer the nation I swore to defend. Hopefully someday it will be again, but the last few asshats who have won are only making things worse.

It's the other way around: CGI Tarkin was live-action Joe Biden.

Liberal-aligned Hollywood wanted a clever reference to the events prophesied by the Cook/Soros superintelligence and the Lizard People, so they decided to get it out of the way before COVID-19 and World War III, which will cut into box office figures even more.

Tarkin's feud with an incompetent, blustering blond narcissist who can't produce results prevents him from addressing the real issues: collusion with foreign powers by key figures (Galen), poor foreign policy in general, failures in cybersecurity, and an unprepared force failing to guard a crucial facility in humiliating fashion. All set to environmental disasters (Scarif and Jedha) and the preventable deaths of countless Imperials (granted these are impending, not concurrent.) Eventually, blond buffoon fails to silence the media (giant satellite dish, it's not subtle) and falls to a woman, a Mexican guy, and the very institutions he once commanded.

And through all this, it's not clear Tarkin's a significantly better choice.

Biden wasn't too keen on the role (he wanted Dodonna, couldn't grow the beard) but soon warmed to it after realizing he wouldn't need to speak for any real period of time.

There's a reason people like Rogue One so much, you know. It's truly innovative writing, even by typical Star Wars political allegory standards.

As much as I want to contribute to this conversation one way or another, I'm hoping the community survives and migrates (swarmada.net, boardgamegeek.com and maybe someday at AMG). Conversations like these aren't conducive that, so I'll continue to get my news/troll at the standard alt-right and alt-left websites. 😋

This is true. But considering the political divide in America, is that something we want on our forum for plastic spaceships? I'd love to have a calm, civilized conversation about such things. And while it seems that this community should be able to do such things since our bond is beyond politics, that's obviously not in the reach of some of us as you experienced with your hate mail.

Do I agree with your post? I'm not going to say for 3 reasons. First, I don't think this is the time or place. Second, I don't want to receive anonymous hate mail. And third, I want this community to stick together as best as possible. I've never been the most active member here, but I visit several times a week to keep up on events, blogs and the like. Armada is already in a questionable situation. We may never get another wave, or we may look back on all of this fondly because of the good job AMG did. Either way, leaving this place in ashes isn't going to help anyone.

Sorry if that sounded rant-y. I just think everything's too politicized today. I play with plastic minis and visit the associated forums to get away from that. Maybe I'll move to the other forum(s) and not look back here. Thanks for the memories.
