Where to when Board Shuts down?

By NeonKnight, in Star Wars: Armada

Where is the best place to look for 'official' answers after the board shuts down?

Reddit, Discord, BGG seem to be the consensus.

But which would be the best? Sux not having an 'official' board.

"Official" as in company official? You'll have to wait until AMG says something.

Or "unofficially official"? The Star Wars: Armada Discord is the best. They have a great rules channel in which you can ask a question and it'll get answered quickly by some of the best minds in the Star Wars: Armada community.

Indeed it does. My personal opinion is that for an answer to a rules question, Discord would get you the fastest response. As an overall forum though, I'm leaning towards BGG which may give you more in depth answers and better organization. Seems like some of the bigger hitters who usually answer my questions will be spread out amongst all the options.

Yeah, kinda what I'm looking for is a great place to find quick answers, and hopefully searchable (is discord a from or voice chat...never fully played with it).

But for official, yeah, an 'official official would be best. I'm over on the BATTLETECH forums as I am demo agent for that game, and for a super small company, they still have an official forum, with official answer (that later make it into reprints, etc), just sad to see this happen to Armada :(

Whelp, need to look into BGG I guess.

As stated, for the time being... Discord will be the closest for you.

We have Former Worlds Judges, Prolific Judges, and those who had close contact with the Developers in the past.

And personally, I refuse to go back to BGG anymore.

Well Drasnighta...I respect you, and you have great answers...so if Discord is your new haunt, I guess when I have dumb questions that'll be where I'll go a-looking!

Please don't. Spare yourself the pain.

The subreddit and Facebook group are fine. The discord groups are overall good with some exceptions.

If "searchable" is what you want, you're basically looking at BGG or reddit. Discord and FB searches are terrible. (Particularly Discord, which is fine for chatting, but garbage as a forum as it lacks threading, so it isn't possible to follow a particular question thread. FB isn't actually that bad, except the community there is fractured by region - and that segmentation is problematic for finding things - you have to look in a bunch of different places. Oh, and of course you hit the issue that a rather large portion of gamers...and much of the Armada player base...refuses to use FB on principle, "because Zuckerberg" or whatever)

Reddit isn't actually bad for threading and search, but the upvote/downvote competition there results in a signal-to-noise ratio that is...poor.

So my personal preference is BGG - it does everything this forum does, and then some. Fantastic search, threaded discussions, subforums for rules/strategy/etc. And then all the image/video/blog/etc hosting you could want. Yes the UI takes some getting used to, but you spend some time in it and you'll be fine.

How many times is this topic going to be asked. There is a search function.

Any particular reason?

Asking as one who never really used BGG before now.

Alright misery guts. Is this really the time to get upset about a website function? Nobody is going to change. It takes 28 days to change habits

And at this point we only have 18 days or so. Too late to change now!
