Extra Attacks

By zero26, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

I am a bit confused about how many extra attacks are allowed and from what sources?

For example an Explorer with the Weapon MIU gives the user a free attack with that weapon. Does this count against the same action type, so that the explorer can't make a normal standard attack?

The Ballistic Mechadendrite gives the option of using the characters reaction as and attack instead.

In my opinion both of these options should be usable at the same time as making a normal standard attack action, or the multiple attack action.

But what do you think and how do you handle these situations?

For me, players make all their attacks when their initiative come. They can attack latter if they specifically notified that they delay one of their attack, waiting for the guy to leave his cover for example.

The MIU was definitely counted against the 1-attack-action-per-round limit, the mechadendrite wasn't, IIRC. See the errata for details.

And that's what Overwatch and Delayed actions are for.

MIU counts against 1 standard attack (check the RT errata) (so basically preserves your action... full action aim+shoot)

mechadendrites using a reaction explicitly do not count against this (so basically are an extra attack) at least this is what mack martin answered me after asking

I'ld too play attacks (except counter attack) in your own initiative or use overwatch/delay

Thanks for the answers Cipher and Sirion.

I wasn't aware that there were a difference between the two. So you can spend your reaction and get an extra attack, but you will have to decide to do this in your own turn?

only when you have mechadendrites which have a special ability that allows you to use your reaction for an attack

Mack Martin said (wrote in an e-mail)

"If you make an attack using a reaction you may still make an attack with your normal action on your turn."

he did not say if your reaction attack does happen on your turn or if it is usable only not on your turn (because it is a reaction)

(btw the same goes for logis implant)

now the thing is if you allow him/her to play it as a reaction he can either do it any time he wants to (waiting for ini 0 and then triggering it if he does not use his reaction for parry/dodge), or as it is a reaction you need to define a trigger to which he can react... you can rule that he has indeed to announce it but then basically get's an attack action similiar to delay

or you simply say you can use this action only on your own turn... and it uses your reaction for that round... because it is the simplest way to go that does not f*** with the ini and everything (maybe allow it to be fired at the same time as a delayed action)

but this is completely on the hands of the GM and is not ruled nor officially answered

heck you can even rule it to be smth like a counter attack... if you can dodge/parry you can instead take the hit and attack/shoot yourself
