New expansion-what would we like to see in game new expansion,

By Morty Porky, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

This is just to FFG see what do we players need in this great game of TI3.

I found on the net lot of other stuff, such are new warm holes, custom planets, etc.
I think that the game have enough political, action cards. But the game have too little strategy cards and tech-cards.
More starships, starship types, fighter and land units will be very welcome. At the middle of the game we remain without it.

The game is to static ad 2/3 of the game, And when some nice fleets are done then the war begin. More public objective is needed (More type of mission to clam objective (Hold 3 planets of that type, Make peace with some one etc)) .

We play with all strategy cards, because we found more interesting game if we change strategy cards on every turn, and we shuflle every 3rd turn cards.
More trading influence is needed to be put into game, Some type of rare materials to build some new type od Mega DreadnoughtWarSunFighter. More planets, new blach holes or thing like this, and we specialy need galactic events like one in MOO, Space Empires. Space creatures, pirates and so on.

So if any one have something to add write....Maybe we will get 2 expansion..AND realy we will have mega 4x board game.....Game is great to play with save and on long term. This is worth every $ i pay for it.

Salut, and se you in space, "THE SPICE MUST FLOW"

P.S. FFG make some program to create custom races...

Maybe other aren't old school enough to have played the expansioned out 1st edition but I miss the espionage element of gameplay. In that past form it probably wouldn't make sense but spies were more fun than action cards really. There needs to be less generic expansion and I love what some people have done with the artifacts(giving bonuses for having them on top of the point).

Addition of stealth ships would be lots of fun along with the spy. Sneakiness breads conflict and political posturing which is sorely needed when the game can become a turtle-fest.

The political phase would be a lot more interesting if there was actually political intrigue but most of the time its motivated by more obvious immediate needs. Political is also extremely imbalanced for the delaying races(Yssaril, human, & Muaat) who wait until people have been forced to exhaust due to limited command couters/tactics to delay compared to the forementioned races.

Race balance has to be looked at and specifically some of the older races(Hacan, Letnev, and Xxcha) need to be a little boosted. Trade agreements need to be looked at(Muaat have the best military and no trade counter balance like the other superior military races). New trade sucks and needs to be boosted up, then the Hacan will be balanced again.

Faster advancement of technologies and quicker progression into stage 2 objectives. If people were able to finish their great navy 1 turn or so sooner there would be more conflict which really does drive this game. There really should be a stage 1.5 because the transition between the 2 never seems quite right. You'll have all these insanely easy objectives and then one that could be utterly impossible at that juncture. Also more military secret objectives that are a little easier to complete. The Mecatol ones are fine but there are some that are the same point total yet vastly harder to complete. Balance those out so its less luck of the draw.

Less generic random event tiles on planets. Give people a hero when they meet up with the Lazax and take one away along with other razing conquences if they bomb it. At this point its almost never worth it to scout and that makes fighters irrelevant in the taking of space.

Add EMP tech to dreadnaughts so they can knock out PDS's or make a science/espionage ship with special abilites.

Take it one step forward and include a capitol ship for each race that has special abilities you can tech to. Uniqueness is good and makes for a more interesting experience each time. Part of the greatness of the game is how the galaxy can be different every time.

Finally, this is one game that needs to be on a computer. I imagine this game in full 3D touch screen coffee table style. Kind of like how I think "Ender's Game" might look like during the battles. Having something to calculate for you and streamline vote counting, etc. This game could be everything "Master of Orion II" wanted to be and couldn't quite get right.

Anyways, thats everything I can think of off the top of my head.

Peace!

I like some of the ideas suggested here. A deck of "Galactic Events" you draw one form every turn would be cool. Especially if some of those events were motivated by the Winnarian Custodians running contests or something to encourage a new Emperor to come forth (an example: "Air show: the player who has X Fighters at Mecatol Rex during the next Status Phase will gain the Imperial Favour. - The Imperial Favour being a card worth 1 VP that moves around, like Voice of the Council.) Sort of like objectives that need to be fulfilled shortly after they appear (and not always in the Status Phase) to gain this roaming VP. Other event cards would be random disasters and what not, as you might expect.

I don't think the game particularly needs any more ship types, certainly not anything that out-guns a War Sun. I've seen a few interesting homebrew ship types though, so I'm not completely opposed to the idea. I wouldn't mind seeing every race get a "racial unit" - like the flagships variants I've seen out there. If you want special resource types for construction, I would be inclined to make such units require one or two tech spec icons (as in, you must control planets which collectively have this array of icons - Yellow, Yellow, Blue, Red for ex - to build this unit, in addition to the actual Resources needed.) Seems simpler than adding a new Resource unit that, by the very fact that is new, would only appear on tiles from this expansion, and would thus be hard to get if too few expansion tiles show up on the table.

Stealth ships and espionage would be cool, but I expect anything like that would add significant play time to an already ridiculously long game. Since I generally don't play this game with fewer than 5 at the table, I don't think I'd be interested in that. Unless we also included a "save game" mechanic so we could play over the course of several sessions without having to leave everything set up...

In addition to the standard "more of everything" request - which would be nice but isn't really necessary - I wouldn't mind seeing some ideas from Runewars getting ported back to TI. RW has a lot in common with TI, but it moves faster and tends to be more effective at discouraging turtles than TI is, so I think TI would benefit from an expansion that introduced some of those ideas back. Not really sure what exactly I would port right now, but it's an idea I've thought about.
