Painting Twilight Imperium?

Sweet! how long does it take you to do a single fleet? Think you might be able to post up a tutorial?

Sorry for the lack of posting on the FFG boards as of late as I have been dealing with an ongoing back injury and took a spill down the front porch steps this past weekend due to the rain turning to ice and did a number on my back, my shoulder and my leg. So my post here will be brief but I hope to get some more pics of completed races as I get back into it.

To answer the question it usually takes me 2 days from start to finish which includes cleaning of flashings, scrubbing with soap and warm water as well as the hot/cold technique for bending ships back into place that are bent to a 3 step process of a dark colour as the base, a mid range colour and then a drybrushed highlight then painting touch ups and insignia colour details and then a clear matte coat to protect.

Hope that answers your question(s)?

For those who are in need/search for good turorials on miniature painting hop over and have a look at coolminiornot.com. All your Questions should be answered there.

I've used minatures from Games Workshop's Battle Fleet Gothic as peices for TI. Its kinda a dead game, so if you are lucky you might have a local gaming store with them 50-90% off. They look good as TI peices because they are about the same scale, and you can use different armies from the game as different racial factions.

I had almost thought about incorporating Battlefleet Gothic minis into TI.

These ships are so sweet!

MUST RESIST Motivation to paint....arghhhhh!!!

Will have to keep an eye out for cheap sets of the game...

Impressive .....most impressive..
If i hade more time on my hands this is somthing i have tought about doing to...
Hope uer gaming group adores u for the work u put into this...

Hmmm...Battlefleet Gothic sounds really interesting. Is that really about the same scale as the TI ships? If so then I will look for some cheap models henceforth. At least for my fleet to show my friends who's (trying to be) boss!

I do like the specific look of the different colors to represent each race. I just used a solid color to create all the 14 races ships I would need. Not as impressive as yours but it does the job of setup easier when everything is already ready to go in baggies for each race and labeled.

How goes the Sardakk fleet? I am looking forward to seeing them! aplauso.gif

They are almost done. It has taken me sometime since I have been having a lot of shoulder and back pain after taking a nasty fall. So sitting down and painting has been rough. I have also been really busy the last little while but they are very near completion and hope to get them posted soon. Thanks for the interest!

very nice work! I wonder if you had any problem with the matt varnish. I mean i usually tend to have the problem that the last layer of varnish dulls details a bit...

Actually no I did not. I put on two very light coats of spray matte and it seems to do the trick.

Only have 6 races ships left to paint. Been busy as of late and finally had time to get back to it. Look for pics soon!

That is great to hear - looking forward to seeing them!

I am hoping to get them all done in the coming weeks. Just things have been pretty busy as of late. I think I am just going to finish them all first and then post pics. We will see but glad folks are interested in seeing how these are turning out.

Finally been able to get some images taken of the Sardakk N'orr. Hope folks like what I did here. Had to actually take some time away from it but closer to completion.
