Game report:Uthuk Y'llan vs Latari elves

By Zabulus, in Runewars

The Uthuk lands were abundant in resources and teeming with wildlife, while the elves had a more modest crop and fewer roaming monsters, but their lands held the only city. The first years saw both sides sending out armies, taking control over their surroundings, the elves building a stronghold at the chokepoint of the land. While the savage demon-barbarians slaughtered the giants in their lands, the elves made allies with one of the dragons living in theirs.

Then, disaster struck: the Uthuk warlocks cast a mighty spell and the only city in the land was destroyed by fires from heaven. The elves prayed, and their prayers were rewarded when the wizard's council ordered the Uthuk to pay a dragon rune to the elves in payment. The Uthuk handed over the rune grudgingly at the elves' forward stronghold, knowing they would invade that area soon anyway. When the wizards discovered another dragon rune, the elves used their influence to sway their opinion, and so the elves received their fourth rune.

Finally, as Mad Carthos was following Red Scorpion in a crazy chase to catch her before she could reach the elves' stronghold, the elves prepared for the coming year by making sure they had more allies, for which they received another dragon rune. Red Scorpion managed to reach the elven stronghold just one season before the Uthuk were to unleash the full fury of their forces on it, and with the Timmorran shard she carried, they were able to conjure their sixth dragon rune and banish the scourge of Uthuk Y'llan of the lands for all time!

(For the sake of a coherent story, I changed a few wordings: for instance, the Uthuk did not have to give up one of their own runes, they just had to place a new rune in the elven lands because they lost the influence bid).
