Terrain File Created Would Appreciate Testers

By tdcthulu, in Terrain Building

Hello All,

I created the following terrain piece and would appreciate some testers and/or feedback.

Thanks!

So this might be more a Thingiverse issue, but if I try to download all the files at once, I get a 404 screen.

Downloading each of the 5 individual files, I was able to download them.

The previews aren't showing up in Thingiverse yet (usually happens when something new is posted there. Do you have a photo/rendering of what it should look like when it's completed?

Looking at the files in my slicer, I think the only support/bed adhesion that might be needed would be for the walls. With how thin and tall they are, I'd probably add a brim or a raft to them to make sure they stay up. If you rotate the roof piece onto its side, it would probably be able to print without any supports.

Are the circular holes on the sides of the walls meant for magnets? If so, love that, always nice to be able to break down larger terrain pieces for storage, and I prefer magnets over clips, because over time the clips can start to wear down/break.

Might be a while before I can get these on my printer though, I have a backlog of holiday gifts and other things to print out first, these are just my impressions from looking at the digital files.

Yeah, Thingiverse's servers are the worst sometimes. I expect those file issues to smooth out in time.

I haven't gotten the chance to print out the whole thing but will get most of it done this weekend. My Ender 3 is in my home office and I've been working from home so my printing time is limited.

I only printed out the walls for an older version, I haven't printed any of the new version but plan to this weekend. And yes the new version has holes for magnets on the side! It would have been too difficult to store as one piece I thought.

When I printed the walls last time I didn't need a brim, but I use a glue stick on my bed so your mileage may vary.

It was inspired by Ronto Roasters from Galaxy's Edge. Here are some concepts to see what I mean. Cheffrey85 has already made a great tower+bridge that I have linked in the Thingiverse page.

Been working on updating it after I noticed some elements I wasn't happy with.

Here is screenshot of the TinkerCAD render. Figure is a 28mm silhouette.

Whelp... sucks that these forums will be going away soon.

Here is the building printed out (mostly) and next to Cheffrey85's towers and bridge.

There are also photos of my other printed building projects.

That looks fantastic! I love the way it looks with those towers.

Personally, I'd probably give it a floor once painted up for use, but that would be easy to knock up from MDF or foamcore.

I've been thinking about making some sort of base for it that isn't permanently attached. If the base were attached to the building it would be a lot harder to store.

if you glue it all together then it looks like it would be quite good for holding all of your scatter if you turn it upside down

Haha like a big ol' bowl of terrain. I like that.

Here is how it looks now after printing and in the middle of painting.

There are quite a few of my other projects there too.
