leading shots are 6 points now...

By Ophion, in Star Wars: Armada

I dont think i noticed this before in the discussion? Must have missed it.

I think this is a great change too, its such an auto take in that category in many cases. Combined with ghe changes to gunnery team and ecm, should force a bit more thinking to default large ship builds.

Things in the upgrade pack i dont approve:

- only one cluster bomb

- only one ordnance pod

- only one quad turbo turret

- only two ltt.

That is all.

The thing I don't get is that this card pack was bought out so clone wars players wouldn't have to buy the existing ships to get the cards. What about the new generic cards in the Clone wars stuff for the players that don't want to buy into the new factions?

So what? Reactive Gunnery and the new fleet support cards?

Yes it is a valid question. Will future clone wars expansions also have new cards that wont be available in GCW ships. As the next wave is 4 new CW ships which are sure to have more new stuff.

I guess what do you expect? Them to do a card pack for the two cards in wave one, then redo it to include the added cards from wave two, and so on?

No but this card pack came out at the same time I could of been included in the current pack.

In the past we saw new and scarce cards very often as prices in official events. At the moment there are no official. So that’s bad.

On the other hand you need the official cards for official events only. At the moment there are none. So that‘s ... not good either, but less of a problem though.

I‘m quite sure we will see some additionally printed versions of the new upgrades one way or the other. Just relax!

To run my Consular swarm I'll need: 4 Republic starters + 8 Card Packs.

Good try FFG :D

BN2M$

And one copy of each superweapon?!?!

Like anybody has less than three Onagers 🤪

I like the Leading Shots change. I think we'll see the other Ion Cannons more often, in particular MS-1 and ICB.

NK-7 is probably still trash, but maybe not? A lot of builds now find ways of using every single defense token, so maybe discarding them will be better than before.

This is one of those changes that didn't seem to go nearly far enough. While a lot of staples gained additional costs (exhaust, pay to ready, etc.) that limited how often they could be used each turn, this one just got an insignificant points increase that has no practical impact on its power level. Still far and away the best (and still one of the cheapest) ion cannon slots for the large sluggers, and ships with 2+ antifighter dice can still trigger Leading Shots a half dozen times per round (once during every squadron shot if needed) to almost ensure that you never miss against squads. Still a steal for 6pts.

I had a hunch that nk-7s did well against 3 token ships as you take away even just 1 token stressing 2 becomes a lot easier.

If it let you discard it before they used it it'd be fine.

I was chewing over how to fix the problem and thought that if the
enemy ship has to discard 1 readied token or 2 exhausted ones then that would make it worth the 10 pts.

I think the main problem with "fixing" NK-7s is that it can be combined with Intel Officer, Palpatine, etc. An SSD with IO, Palp and NK-7s could potentially be an NPE to play against.
