The Most Famous Non-Cannon Ship

By JediPartisan, in Star Wars: Armada

So I’m still hit with the Clone Wars bug, so I’m sorry if you have to suffer through my incessant enthusiasm. 😉

Though I believe the Dreadnought Heavy Cruiser (2 videos and text info in links) was created way back in the 80’s by West End Games and its still not Cannon. It has appeared in books, comics and video games, but still hasn’t been in a movie or even an animated short. I believe it started as an Empire ship, but has been cast in stories as having a Republic origin and even saw work with the Rebel and Separatist faction. I would think it likely it would show up as either Empire or Republic (or both) in Armada and I’d guess it would be a medium ship at 600 meters in length, being longer than the 340 meter Quasar medium ship, though smaller than the 900 meter Victory Class Stardestroyer medium ship. I won’t hazard a guess as to its stats, I’ll let you good people tell me what you think (I’m really bad at Armada stats, though I’m curious as to what you think), but I do hope to see some love for this ship in the coming months. It would be nice for it to be the first Empire/Republic ship released with both factions’ ship cards. Actually it would be a value added release for FFG AMG if the came out with another ship that could release as Rebel/Separatists at the same time. Two ships and four factions making everyone happy. 😁

So what do you think of this old war horse of a ship? A good pick for Armada? And what kind of stats would you like to see?
Personally I hope this ship is tough for its size, but I don’t see it as having a high squadron. One would probably be accurate, but then again, I’m bad at stats so, I turn it over to you.

For what it's worth, this ship was actually re-canonized ( canon , as in canonical) in the Star Wars Rebels episode "A Fool's Hope."

Dam, I missed that! I’ll have to re-watch that episode, thanks. 😊

Edit: I checked it out and it was a real, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Lol But still very cool that it’s canon now.

Ah yes, our games version of the Gunship. One day.

Now that Armada Clone Wars is out, this could be the first 4 faction ship!

Surely the most famous non-canon ship would be either the Ebon Hawk or the Eclipse SSD?

Now if we’re talking about most famously ugly (formerly) non-canon ship then yeah :P
