Munificent and Hardcell individual ships

By Herr Style, in Star Wars: Armada

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but is there anything out there to say when these will be sold outside of the starter set in a particular Wave? I don’t particularly want to purchase another starter set to increase my ship count, as I’m busy saving for Providence and Recusant in Q1, so cost is a factor.

Cheers!

I believe FFG's stance was they had no plans to, but aren't ruling it out for the future. Its AMG's call now, though. I expect a content drought following the Q1 releases once development transfers to AMG, so they might release individuals of the starter ships to fill the void.

The response when asked was that they 'had nothing they could reveal about plans to release these individually'.

That's not the same thing as 'has no plans' - they just couldn't tell us what they were, at the time. Questions on what packaging they'll get, what sort of upgrades they'd include, what wave to aim for...lots of reasons for them to intend such a release, but not be able to say anything definitive about it.

Even so if they are being released, they’re probably a year and a half to two years away so I would say get two starters if you want 2 of those ships. Maybe you can then sell the hard eels on eBay.

To quote Metallica... sad but true.

To further quote Metallica; "Gimme more money."

I asked the question during one of their live streams. They said:

It is something we are looking to do in the future but our priority right now is to get the starters out.

That is a rough quote but not exact.

As stated before AMG may view it differently but hopefully they also plan to do individual ships at some point.

Looks like another starter is in order then lol.

I want all three ships from the starter but don’t need the damage deck etc... that comes with it.

While I'd like a second Munificent, I'm not sure I'd want more Hardcells. If they do end up releasing them as singles I'll still need to grab one for the cards, but I imagine the third would never get used.

It is very good to have a backup damage deck. If you lose even one card the deck is illegal. If you are just casual I guess it doesn't matter but I would put the extra damage deck in a safe place.

Now I’ve had chance to sleep on it, I think that getting the next wave before another starter is the way I will go. Perhaps then at some point the Munificent and Hardcells might be available. I’ve still got my original damage deck as a back up. I actually like the Hardcells as well, and can see multiple of those in a list with Kraken.

If you can wait that long that’s a good way to go. Just don’t be surprised if it’s March or April by the time the next wave drops. My gut tells me there’s no way the next 4 expansions will be out in January. Best case scenario is an announcement article this month and the units arrive in February or March.

I hope the do individual ship releases.

I feel no inclination to buy another starter set. I don’t need more damage decks, movement tool etc.

Considering the fact that small ships are a premium for the CIS going into Wave 10, one would hope they have individual stuff coming. I mean, sure it only sucks half as much to get two Hardcells for $50 each (assuming that's the only reason someone buys a second starter, which is probably unlikely), but still all the extra odds and ends that isn't necessary to have duplicates of... I'll go ahead and say FFG/AMG would be foolish not to get something out before Wave 10 hits. Really, if nothing else, "sales events" have proven that people will pay $25 for something that originally would have costed them $50 because it's such a "sweet deal" (nevermind you're also not getting a Muni, more dice and more vultures now :P ).

You can pick up starter sets for around 69.99, I suspect buying the individual ship packs will cost more, spare damage decks are handy to be honest so......only issue will be what would the cards be on any future packs and does that mean you will need to buy them anyway....

If you were to buy one Munificent and two Hardcells individually, perhaps. But what about those of us who just want one additional Munificent? Or one additional Hardcell? That's the value of individual ship packs: choice.

As far as we know, Wave 10 will be the last FFG-designed wave. I wouldn't be surprised if AMG quickly put together individual ship sets for Wave 11, that way the only design work they'll need to do is on the upgrade cards. As an additional bonus, it'd give them time to work up a full Wave 12 design.

Where are you guys even buying these???

I cannot find Republic Starters on the whole. Damned. Internet.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I panicked and overpaid considerably when I finally found them on some other website. Why the **** would they be so hard to find?

EDIT: This is what I get for being an analog guy in a digital age, I guess.

There is a tiny proportion of the population that ever learned how to set the clock on a VHS. I’m one of them. Digital and Analog went hand in hand for one glorious decade.
