So World's Collide in the Shwa had it's pre release today. Scoring ten people was nice, and everyone seemed more or less to enjoy themselves. Just a few thoughts from it:
-The games didn't last forever. There were ways to kill people, and not a retarded amount of overpowered life gain.
- The characters are on the whole balanced, with the only real "problem" ones I can potentially see are Guile, Hugo (more on him later), and MAYBE Basara. I stress maybe because of Basara's non incredible stats, and the fact he NEEDS to keep his hand up in order for his ability to be usefull.
- We cracked one Spinning Beat and and one Galatica Punch in EIGHT BOXES ! Four of each.
- The artwork is awful. The foil job is even worse. I couldn't even read what my opponant's toon could do and he was sitting a few feet across a table. Sogetsu looks like a chick without a chest.
- When they said every card in the set is playable, they lied. Unless of course they meant every card could be put into a deck and played. There are some truly mediocre at best cards in the set, with folks such as T.Hawk, Rock Howard and Terry being damned near awful.
- Chun Li doesn't suck. It only took them four thousand different versions of her to get it right. Next Street Fighter set, Chun Li v 4001.
- Alex's new mechanic doesn't work. Much like E.Honda's stuff with no uncommited foundations, the whole face down thing doesn't work yet. If (unlike the commited board effect from Deadly Ground) the effect will be continued in following sets, I could MAYBE see some of the cards making a splash. Till then, I'll stick to Promo Alex thanks.
- Void probably got one of the hugest boost I've ever seen. Discard is going to be a scary thing, and anti discard cards are going to be needed.
- No Burning Knuckle, I'm saddened.
-Why did Order get MORE support? Has it had a set since Cutting Edge where it didn't get support?
Hugo: Huge I can potentially see being a huge problem. But at the same time, he can be stopped in the current enviroment. Tough Outter Shell and Tag Along can slow him down, but TOS can get stopped by the Chester's or Oral Deads if the Hugo player is running death. His enhance is hilarious, especially with all of Cammy 's life gain from Deadly Ground. If he can keep his health above 23, that'll be 5 damage at the cost of one card from his hand.
Anywho's there's some thoughts.
Cheers,
Brad
