Replacement ship stands - where to get them?

By takfar, in Star Wars: Armada

So, longtime X-wing player here, I got into Armada during quarantine. Been collecting and test-playing since around April, but just this month I managed to break two large ship stands (was moving the ship from the living room to the home office, may or may not have been making pew-pew noises, and the base fell off, breaking the tab as it hit the ground. Yes, it happened twice).

All my queries for "replacement armada ship stands" have turned out old posts, and I'm aware Asmodee's support re: parts has been changed (aka. it's now nonexistent). How can I get the replacement ship bases? Do I just try to print them off thingiverse, or something? Any other suggestions?

I think you would probably need to go third party like thingiverse or Etsy.

possibly ebay or maybe someone has extra and could trade or give them to you.

Mel's miniatures on Shapeways probably still has them. But they will cost you...

Ok, thanks for the info. Being overseas, it's probably easiest for me to try and 3d print the supports.

To be fair, I kind of half-solved it by using a bunch of superglue. The broken tab didn't really stick in place properly, but the whole part that goes into the base got just a bit wider and stickier, enough that it holds the stand in place through friction.

It's just so weird that ffg now sells a product for which they offer zero methods for parts replacement. A bit like buying a car and having to make your own tyres.

Technically, there was no official support for replacement parts for items damaged on use.

The parts replacement service was for things damaged in manufacturing or transit - Abd was actually a disclaimer on the submission form.

they were just NICE when they did it. And I was denied plenty of times.

So we can’t really be sad about losing something we never had.

3D printing us the best bet; if you’re not able to cheese the current process of returning it to your place of purchase abd hoping they accept it without a fight.

Oh yes, I'm aware of that. It's still puzzling that there is no way to replace the plastic bases, especially given they seem somewhat prone to breaking*. At least with X-Wing they sell them in separate packs.

*I've been collecting X-wing for years, have dozens of ships, and never once had a base break on me - the only hardware issue I had was with a brand-new 2.0 Ghost+shuttle (the shuttle came stuck in place, and forcing it out broke the Ghost peg inside the shuttle; they offered to replace the shuttle but not the Ghost - I ended up just using multi tack to hold it in place).

I started designing ones to be assembled out of 2d laser cut acrylic, but got lazy at about 80% complete lol

There’s just so many types and combinations; when I inquired about it in the past, the word was it was uneconomical to package them both individually (choose your own bases), and in order axis where you have straight pegs and 4(!) different sizes of fins.

plus they filled their SKU allocation at the time with like 5 different XWing colour packs: so we totally blame XWing too 🙂

I lost every squadron I had when the center pole warped heavily from being in a hot car. They were all banking to the right. Cheapest option I could find was to replace them all ☹️

Ouch!!!

I narrowly avoided such a fate myself the other week, so I feel for you ☹️ ☹️
