Hallo Runbound adventurers,

currently im playing the basis edition of runebound. I have read on boardgamegeek that the expansions improve the basic game a lot.

As we enjoyed the PVP-Battle in the end game most, the battle of the three Dragonrunes, would like to know which expansion support best pvp.

In which expansion has the pvp a significat influens on the course of the game and makes most sense.

Thanks

The best expansion for PvP, bar none, would be the Character Packs (the purplish card expansions) As I understand it those expansions are designed specifically at increasing player interaction throughout the game, to the point that each player needs to have one in order for them to be used. I don't have any of them myself because I prefer a less PvP intensive game, but if that's what you want, I'd say start with the Character Packs.

I'm not sure that any of the big boxes really change the balance of PvP in the game too much (maybe a little.) Except I suppose Midnight, but it brings all the heroes together against a single "Night Lord" villain player, so it might not be precisely what you want.

The character packs basically give each player a deck of cards that he/she can use to ruin the other player's days in different ways and other cards that can benefit themselves in some way. There's a clever mechanic for playing them; basically the more cards that you play that benefit you, the more points the other players get to throw bad cards at you. Be warned though - using the cards basically adds an extra phase to the game and can REALLY stretch out game length.
