Haha squadrons nerfed yet again

By Blail Blerg, in Star Wars: Armada

Yavaris

SQ : Each squadron you activate may choose to only attack during your activation. If it does, while attacking, it may add 1 die to its attack pool of a color already in its attack pool

but nooooo some people think wave3 unneeded squadrons with unnerfed rieekan and unnerfed flotillas and unnerfed BCC is fine.

Well, at least FCT and Yavaris work together again? The dragging along has nothing to do with what a squad does when activated? Or am I reading that wrong?

I think you’re right. The new card doesn’t even say anything about moving. It just says choose to only attack. FCT doesn’t involve the squad’s activation.

Wait until he finds out about Pryce and SAd.

I don't think Squadrons can move. When a activated by a squadron command a squadron can move and attack or attack and then move. The Yavaris wording states they must only attack to get the bonus die.

As for FCTs, Yavaris says " may choose to only attack during your activ at ion".

Now does this mean each squadron's activation or does this mean during the activation of Yavaris? It is an upgrade card to the ship and uses the word "your" on it, so I think it is the latter. This means FCTs are still done in the activation of the ship either before or after (flight commander) the squadron command so you wouldn't get the extra attack die.

It is interesting that Rebel squadrons get a nerf while CW factions seem to focus heavily on squadrons...

No, it doesn't. It says " your activation ". "Your" means that ship.

Right now Yavaris is OK against ships, but against squadrons it's literally worse than Torpedo Hammerhead with Expanded Hangars and Flight Controllers, and with Intel being changed, you will have to eat through enemy squadron cover before you get to attack their ships.

The Ace cap is also a light nerf for Rieekan who also will be 4 pts. more expensive. Because he affects only unique squadrons he's a little less efficient even if you can swap aces for named squadrons without defense tokens (that will die faster though).

The Rieekan-Yavaris-134-Aces got no love again. 😄

You can still run

biggs

Jan

Norra

Ten

gold

dagger

6 uniques to use with Rieekan. You could even add Rogue and Green if you want for 8

If it’s a nerf, it’s a very slight nerf for Rieekan.

Note, the german rules leak did not mention defence tokens. Four uniques only. We are waiting for an official source.

Wow it's rare I get to do this but I get to revive a meme from the last time Blail went HAM. lol Never change my dude lol

While i don't speak german, google translate of page 24 comes out with:

"the maximum number of unique squadrons with defense tokens for each fleet is 1 per 100 fleet points allowed."

and even if it's technically possible that google(or my copy/paste) randomly added the defense token part, i don't think it's likely.

Well, I am German, and that's exactly what it says.

You bring a pair of Xwings and the 6 aces. Comes out to 127. Then everything but Jan is a bomber.

It’s a decent mix of squads where almost everything is a bomber and almost everything can help fight through enemy squads.

Can only bring 4 now.

Just now, Formynder4 said:

2 are non-tokened aces. (Gold and Dagger)

For even more silly comparisons, lets go back to pre-Wave 1, and then we can complain that rebel squadrons do not stand a chance vs imperials, and that the only way to win is 3 VSDs.

4 with tokens. 2 without. So still compliant with the new rules as far as I know. I could have been more precise with my wording.

That is why the forum community coined the term geniques, after all.
