Crazy Awesome Moments of HOLYFETH

By Kylen2, in Dark Heresy

Instead of casting the heretical necromancy on the last thread, I decided to make a new one.

Just today, we caught up with a well supplied sniper who had been taking pot shots at us. As Jericus (with his crazy 72 sprint) caught up with the sniper, he gets blown up by a trap, dropping him to 3 wounds. A little singed, he gave chase, dodging several plasma shots in his direction.

Fast forward a little bit to dodging several more shots, several swings, and having to burn a fate point to NOT DIE against a man in WHATTHEHELL power armor, with two powerswords, a plasma pistol, several gas grenades, a crack grenade, and Transgrav (the better one).

I barely survived with 3 wounds (after the burn), a big power sword burn scar on my chest, and short one hardened body glove.

I can probably describe this better when I haven't been up all day, but it was just all sorts of wrong. And Fething EPIC

It was even more epic and awesome than Kylen described. Even more fun (for the evil GM side of me) is that the super-heretek-sniper managed to make a hasty getaway as Kira, Ami and the others finally managed to catch up and round the corner on the fight, so we have the very real possibility of a rematch in the near future. The previous time we managed to elude death by sending out a serviter draped in robes and a flak cloak with the cowl raised, so I am sure the next time will be pricy....

A very abbridged armoury for the mysterious warrior: Power Armour with chameleoline coating, two powerswords, a nice plasma pistol, a bolt-sniper rifle, krak grenade, 2x hallucinogen grenade, Maglev Transcendence trait and I am sure much, much more... Filodan wrote a sequel to Rejoyce! from PTU so I get to be a player for this one. For three of the team (Kira, Jerrichus and Psy) this is their final mission as accolytes before horrible death or the big promotion, and he really seems to be pulling out the stops to make it memorable and awesome! Most of the others are moving into rank 8.

This baddie managed to earn favorable comparison to Bobba Fett during the session and he is not even the "big bad". He has managed to escape the clutches of a very annoyed Scintillan assassin and a Cadian Kasrkin officer three times so far, the third time also including the bulk of the mission team. One of our resident meatbags (Inquisitor Varak loaned us a few of his own [lower ranking] agents for this one, since it is so epic and our butts still belong to Inquisitor Skane for the time being.) can now brag about being shot in the head by a sniper's boltgun (obviously a custom piece from the quantity of shots fired and the accuracy at range) without dying! See, feral Guardsmen have their uses.... gran_risa.gif

For those not in the know, that was only Jerrichus' second burnt Fate Point so far and he will be entering rank 9 if he survives this mission. The only prior one was during my run of Tattered Fates when he entered into a Metallican Quickdraw deathmatch as part of a bet he made with the local crime-boss: He wins, he wins ownership of one of the boss' slave gladiators (one of the group's Guardsmen who had been captured separately from the main group). He loses, he dies. So he figures either way it is ok... He ended up facing down a tweaked-out Metallican Gunslinger and they blew the **** out of each-other in record time! Jerrichus had Fate Points and his foe did not, so his head becoming a prop for Gallagher magically transformed into an impressive looking glancing wound (and cool looking scar!) that left him in a pool of blood on the sandy arena floor. Even more fun is that he then used the Leap Up talent to rise like an avenging ghost from the bloody sand and finishing off his foe, then staggering off towards the arena exit... I had made a scorecard for the event and filled in the blanks as the duel unfolded because I thought it would be fun (and since other players were gambling on it!). It was a cool enough scene that I gave the prop to Kylen as a momento. The other player was also very happy, since our assassin literally took some for the team and earned his character's freedom. Jerrichus even bought the dead gunslinger's guns from the man's manager after the duel so he could have a propper burrial. cool.gif
