Just to make sure im not going insane, as ive had quite a few of these moments in recent days, If I have one CS character Shaggydog then I can only have two of the attachment shaggydogs from LoW correct? likewise for the two Greywinds as well.

As Section 3.27 of the FAQ states:

Unique Cards and Changing Control

You may not play, put into play, or take control
of a unique card already in play that you
own or control (except for putting a duplicate
on a card that you own and control), or that is
in your dead pile.
Thus you cannot take control of a unique character
that you already have in play. You cannot
play a unique card if your opponent has taken
control of another copy of that unique card
that you own.
Duplicates can only be played or put into play
on cards you own and control.

In short, you can't control both at the same time, nor can you control one if the other is in your dead pile.

In play at any one time: a total of 1 unique card with the title "Shaggydog." You cannot have both the character and the attachment in play at the same time. Note that the unique attachment card can be used to dupe the character - and vice versa.
