I have a bad feeling about this
Could be the actual games will do well in a new studio. Who knows.
But FFG as a COMPANY will be gone as we know it.
I'm only worried about this move because there's no telling what (if anything at all) will change. Will Armada and X-Wing expansions still be pre-painted and pre-assembled? Will expansion releases change in any way? Will the FFG Star Wars forums stay open? Ect.
I hope more information comes out soon before panic and rumors start flying.
Atomic Mass Games are the ones who made the Marvel: Crisis Protocol miniatures game, which I've heard is pretty successful? It feels like every time I walk into the game store there's a new expansion released for that game. I've also heard they're pretty good at communicating with the community.

It's not ALL Star Wars games. It's quite clear in the announcement that it's the three miniature games: X-Wing, Legion, and Armada.
QuoteSEATTLE, WA, November 16, 2020- In a strategic reorganization of its Star Wars miniatures titles, Asmodee is announcing today that oversight of its three Star Wars miniatures titles will be moving to their dedicated miniatures games studio, Atomic Mass Games.
It looks like Asmodee is pushing FFG back to just their boardgames, which is what they always excelled at pre-Star Wars (granted under CEO Christian Peterson)
Atomic Mass Games publishes Marvel: Crisis Protocol. I actually think that this could be a good thing, as it could give X-Wing, Armada and Legion added attention. Currently, FFG must balance all of their properties -- be it Arkham, Descent, or Keyforge -- whereas Atomic Mass is likely chomping at the bit to show the gaming community what they can do with the Star Wars property (which will now make up the bulk of their miniatures product line; currently, they only publish Crisis Protocol). This also gives me confidence:
Simone Elliott, who has shepherded Fantasy Flight’s relationship with Lucasfilm Licensing since 2015, will lead Atomic Mass Games during this time of expansion as Head of Studio. Will Shick assumes primary creative oversight as Head of Product Development. Joining them will be key members of the teams involved in the creation and evolution of Fantasy Flight’s current Star Wars miniatures games, Star Wars™: X-Wing, Star Wars™: Legion, and Star Wars™: Armada.
Edited by Rmcarrier1I'm familiar with some of their board games like Catan and Ticket To Ride. Sounds like most of the main leads behind the development of Armada/X-Wing/Legion are sticking with them under the new studio.
However, I am a bit wary of license/development transfers in general, especially since Armada is kind of the red-headed stepchild of X-Wing and Legion. And we're at a bit of a critical juncture with Clone Wars about to release.
This has been a necessary thing for a very long time. I've been silent about it because people were not ready to hear it but FFG ****** us hard when they started intentionally shrinking our competitive presence to shrink the game on whole to make room for Legion and 2.0. Now that they've had a ton of logistical errors in those games as well, and an insane level of restocking problems (even before covid) it's clear that FFG doesn't have the capacity to make any of these titles as successful as the should be.
I'm excited for this change. Armada will rise again.

What's not to like about this sentence?
I wonder how this will work from the online side of things? Will FFG still be hosting their website, their news articles, the FAQs and so on? Will we have to get used to an entirely new website? Will the content all be ported across?
More importantly, what happens to the forum? At the moment AMG's website doesn't seem to have any community stuff, and is dedicated to just the one game.
Will the new Rules Reference be managed by FFG at first, and then AMG, or will AMG be taking over everything from now?

Hope this is healthy for the game, the staff behind crisis protocol being former Privateer Press worries me, but hopefully they're the level headed ones
a massive F to the FFG employees that are getting shafted by this.
I'm not sure we have a Protocol to deal with a Crisis this Marvelous.
Overall I think this will be good having armada and the like being handled by a dedicated miniatures company. Biggest question is when does this take effect? At what date should I start expecting to see armada news on AMs website instead of FFGs?

If it were me I'd assume beginning of the first quarter, but that may be too optimistic.

I’m just not sure if this is Asmodee just trying to build up a new brand with a popular IP or a genuine commitment to fixing the issues.
If they weren’t giving FFG the resources needed to fix the problems then there’s no guarantee they will give the new brand any support either.
I think armada will always have secondary appeal, it will always be the red headed stepchild, hopefully it will just be less neglected

My money would be on Asmodee being tired of seeing diminishing returns due to logistical and manufacturing delays and errors. FFG specialized in board games. Atomic Mass is all about miniatures. I'm guessing based on all the restock, deadline, low stock, mis packaging, mis printing issues I've seen since 2015 when I bought into FFG Star Wars games, that Asmodee expected better returns on investments. FFG, not being able to meet that means it's time to reorganize.
So this is 2020's take on Armada but I am not worried, as @Darth Sanguissaid, Armada will rise again.
I am just not looking forward to read all of " end of Armada is coming" threads that will be posted in the next few weeks...

That is not dead which can eternal lie, with strange aeons even death may die.

Sounding dangerously Game of Thrones there dude. Last thing I need to be thinking about my mini-ship game is the Greyjoy's whole "iron price" deal XP
Armada is dead... Long live Armada
Armada is coming
or maybe Valor armada

Except that Asmodee North America handled the actual production of the plastic under FFG, logistical issues were on ANA, not FFG. Not sure why that would be different now.

8 years into X-Wing, I’m not sure anyone can say FFG didn’t know miniatures games.
If FFG needed greater resources to get the logistics end moving then Asmodee could have provided that. Certainly the game design itself has been successful.
There’s really nothing here about improving logistics or supply chain or distribution, just moving to new hands. And those hands may not sound as great to me.
I’m not really doom-and-glooming here. I see that Asmodee is moving types of games around and properties around for their own goals. I just don’t see what this move does for the players and I’m not convinced that the problems faced by one team aren’t going to just follow the game to the next one, because the parent company is the problem.

Great quote, Lovecraft is a bit eccentric for my taste, but I really do appreciate his work.
