What would you do for Boba MK II?

Something like this?

Boba Fett: Best in the Business

During Setup, assign either the "No Good to M e Dead" condition, or the "Everyone Dies" to one ship of your choice. When the chosen ship is destroyed, you may assign the chosen condition to another ship.

"No Good to me Dead" - When you defend against an attack from Boba Fett, you may change any result to an (Evade) result. If you do, you receive one Stress, one Deplete, and one Jam token.

"Everyone Dies" - When you defend against an attack from Boba Fett, you must reroll all (Evade) results.

This gives you a clear choice during setup - do you turn Boba into a vicious hunter who can utterly annihilate a single ship, even the strongest of aces? Or, do you turn him into a strong control piece that prevents enemy damage from getting through? Both of these are kinda NPEs in their own way, but, it's only one ship at a time. Which is a big difference to it being every ship, all the time.

"No good to me dead" is just a straight buff to the ship it's on. Did you mean that Boba gets to do it when he attacks?

Not originally? I wasn't really sure what to do with that one, tbh. I liked the idea of messing with evade results.

My original draft gave them the choice to change a result, but assigned a Stress, a Deplete, and a Jam after the attack resolved whether they did or not. Idea was, Boba kinda pulled his shots to keep them alive, but prevented them from doing much. I could see it being Boba's choice, instead, which would definitely give him more control over it.

"When you defend against Boba Fett, Boba Fett may change any number of results to Focus or Evade results. For each result changed in this way, they assign you one Deplete, Stress, Jam, or Strain token."

Ok but why would I do this rather than blowing up the ship? Especially a strain token, which has the sole purpose of making it easier to kill the ship.

The only useful option is Stress, to bully big beefy ships that can't clear stress easily but have tons of HP. So... Han maybe? Thematic? But not good. Maybe make it more of a defensive ability, punish the ship if it DOESNT fight Boba?

I don't think Boba has to be something exotic though. Bread and butter is fine, maybe just a bit less butter...

Just to nitpick even more (yes, I know we're not *really* workshopping an actual ability, I'm just bad at not nitpicking), that allows him to downgrade Evades to Focuses and give red tokens on top of it. Which is OP in a different way.

Good point, good point. I got too caught up in making it symmetrical to the other one.

No, no, I enjoy workshopping abilities!

And, mm, good call again. Dezzmont suggested a defensive buff. So, it could be:

"No Good to Me Dead: When you defend, if a friendly Boba Fett is at range 0-2, you may reroll 1 die."

It turns the condition on its head; rather than putting it on an enemy, he can give it to an ally (including himself). While, yes, his defense then gets very strong, he is hard capped at one. And, more interestingly, he can buff another ship's defense if needed.

That seems pretty good. As you said, it's pretty balanced both giving the choice of offensive and defensive, and capping the effect.
