Convince me please

Alright, people. Why does it seem like no one uses B-Wings, U-Wings, and other (admittedly) pricier ships? Why swarms? A swarm just seems like handing out free points, especially if the opponent brings less, heavier, more fighting ships? Please help me understand.

I'm sure tons of folks are flying those, it's just that for competitive meta games, all the Rebel ships & upgrades are 'fully priced' whereas to 'win' you need an edge. For now (and quite awhile it feels?), those 'edge' options are found in Scum, Empire, and Separatists.

You can definitely have success with Bwings and Uwings, they are by no means bad, but their points have risen steadily whereas the swarms went down. Efficiency swarms of Scyks, Vultures, Sloane TIEs, and so on will eat them up over time on average. 42+ points for one 3-die gun which the swarm can 'approximately equal' for 28-31 points (autoblaster, tractor, ion, energy shells, discords, etc.) - those are hard numbers to beat when multiplied over 6+ ships.

Because Rebels are in points time out from the days of rebel beef lists. Ffg has made other factions more viable for the points right now.

Republic is also in time out because of delta regen aces nonsense.

EDIT: That’s not to say you cannot have success with either faction, especially at the local scene or a casual TTS game. It just means the super try hard follow-the-“best” are rotating to the most recent hotness. I do have a soft spot for my Republic, to democracy! I also recognize it’s not ideal right now. (Ironically, by ideology I fly the most polar of opposites - republic and first order).

My favorite list is a Chewie and 2 B's combo. I have run multiple variations of this theme since 1.0. Hits hard with good action economy via the Ace B's stress mechanics.

it's not true that no one use b wing....

maybe depends to your local meta

my friend use to a fly ten luke leia squad that to me is pretty effective.

anyway a lot of peole now play swarms (FORTUNATELY this is not happening in my local meta, i do not like swarms)

how can i say it? MAYBE....

"there is no war in which numbers desn't matter...."

it only seems that x wing ACTUALLY follows this rule.

x wing is evolving in something different and list building has to reflect this changing (if you want to be competitive NOW).

in some way this probably reduces the player's listbuilding options (if you want to be competitive NOW).

I've seen U-wings and B-wings (not always together) since 2.0 came out. I haven't played in about a month though, so maybe they've fallen out of fashion. I believe that is the norm for 2.0. They change points and rules/upgrades often enough that there is a rotation of ships that come in and out of fashion.
